This is my sensible family car (and shed).

And this is my not so sensible family car.

For how little they cost to run, (<£1000 a year depreciation combined) I'm fairly happy with our Elise S2 111S and Octavia VRS combination.

One of these.

(just ridiculously cheap and practical)

And one of these.

The long distance car just for a bit of (cheapish) fun

Big brother, little brother.

Both are 240bhp/ton rotaries but I can get the kids in the back of the 7.

The current fleet is a Mini r53 Cooper S for the smiles and a BMW e60 520d for the miles.

But seen as we don't actually do any miles anymore, the roles and budgets will be reversed and both will be replaced by a (petrol) Skoda RS estate and a Porsche 997 respectively.

My current fleet fits me perfectly at the moment;

Audi S4 avant with the 6 speed slush box, perfect for the day to day as it just looks like any other Audi estate so can do work visits, long trips / holidays, stuff to the dump but still has 340 ponies for when you want to shuffle on.

Toyota mk2 mr2 turbo for focused blats and the odd track day.

The OH has an A3 3.2 Quattro in 3 door s-line flavour which is also a hoot!

Cheers

Steve

Ideal:
Modern Range Rover with Caterham 7 (take your pick of models to suit personal preference)

Best I've had:
E30 325 Touring and Mk1 MX5 (total value about £1,500 at the time)

ETA
Bravest:
Alfa Spider 1750 (105 series) and Alfasud 105ti (unbeatable combination in the short term, but got trying quite quickly)

997 S for fun
Discovery 3 HSE for everything else

(both black with consecutive licence plates)

All bases covered I believe .....but might be tempted to add a 500 Abarth for shopping and school runs

Was thinking the same..... accept this thread is stopping me working!

Ideally a Defender and a Caterham Superlight R500 (620r even better), there seems to be a lot of love for the defender too ive noticed.

We had one; looked great, broke down non stop (low mile, current version). Had to sell it pronto. It's not all roses!

Our 4wd camper won't go as far but it's a handy do it all vehicle that'll munch mega miles in total comfort. A fine all rounder that Evo ran as a long termer a while back (albeit FWD and less powerful).

I think a quick diesel seven seater SUV and a two seater V12 would make a good pair.

C5 RS6 Avant
Leon Cupra Mk1

But both are used as daily cars.
