I believe that Kauhsen 917/10 raced at the Coys Historic back in the late 1990s. I'd need to check my programme archive to confirm the year though. That remains the only time I've seen one of the pukka Group 7 917s race. It was also at the FoS in 2009 for the 917's 40th birthday celebrations.

Is it the same car he raced in Interserie back in the early-mid 1970s? I'm Coppice will know.
Loiiioking at this it says 6 cars built but only 3 raced. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/sn/422/Porsche-917-...
Nowt about the Kauhsen car though which he was given by the factory.
The Kauhsen car is a 917/10 rather than a /30 - chassis #15 I suspect but I'd need to do a bit more digging before I was certain.
This says Willies car is Chassis 1. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/sn/420/Porsche-917-...

Chassis 917/10-001 was completed late in 1971 and served as the original Porsche test car. Fitted with a naturally aspirated engine, it was sold to Willi Kauhsen halfway through the 1972 season. He quickly upgraded the 917/10 with a turbocharged engine and subsequently raced it on both sides of the Atlantic in Bosch colours. Highlights of its career include three Interserie wins at Nürburgring in Kauhsen's hands. The car was used into the 1974 season when Emerson Fittipaldi placed it sixth at an Interserie race at the Nürburgring. Kauhsen held onto the car until very recently. The new owner, a German collector, can be seen here in action during the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed where 40 years of the Porsche 917 was celebrated.
Kauhsen owned three 917/10s which is bound to confuse things!

Chassis 002 was destroyed and replaced with 001 in 1972. He also had 015 which went to Randy Townsend in 1975. When (Emerson) Fittipaldi drove for Kauhsen 001 was in Uniroyal livery - as below. Wilson Fittipaldi drove 015 the previous season.

My initial information was out-of-date but it's often very difficult to trace chassis numbers from this era. Look at the problems with the Ferrari prototipi!

Monkey - I believe the Top Trumps pack in question might have been "Porsches", and the 917/30 pretty much pi55ed on every other car there, except of course "weight" where the 928 would always win. Also recall that if you had the 356 card (with a very sorry looking picture I recall..), you were pretty much doomed to lose!

I love technology, love gadgets, and generally embrace it all - but do think that kids have it a little too easy with iPads and whatnot, and miss out in not thumbing through Top Trumps packs learning stats whilst also watching an art house channel 4 film in the desperate hope they might see a boob. Happy days! smile
