Meh... another turbocharged barge...
... mind you I'm sure it'll be a bloody good turbocharged barge.
What would you do instead given legislation, fuel prices, every day and business use requirements? Bear in mind it needs to also carry a family with baby seats and Luggage in comfort when required? ... mind you I'm sure it'll be a bloody good turbocharged barge.
50000 pounds . LOL. I would hardly call it a bargain, regardless of how much other overpriced cars cost. That being said i would buy one if I was rich enough.
Anyone who thinks the m3 is better looking then the m4 is obviously a middle aged castrol GTX bomber jacket wearing Jezbo Clarkson fan.

Obviously a great car, but from reading the recent Evo review it reaffirms my intent to go for E92 M3 as my next car when the time comes, following the E92 330i I currently have.
Notwithstanding the cost of the newer model, a few things stand out for me:
- For me a high revving V8 is a much more attractive proposition.
- Reports I've seen don't suggest the E92 will be left far behind performance wise. There will be a lot of talk about real world driving, but I haven't got time for this.
- I think the E92 M3 is going to continue to look great, many won't agree but I don't think it has been left far behind styling wise. Unlike I feel (Even more people will disagree with this) the way I felt the E92 M3 was a vast vast improvement on the E46 M3.
On top of all this, I can't see it being too long until decent E92's (early models granted) will be dropping to the £15k mark.

Wont miss the V8, I think it was a step too far for the M3. Stylewise the E90/92 M3 didn't cut it for me, plus didn't like the way the rear bumper did not cover the silencer box properly; looks very unfinished compared to the E46 M3.

Well it's not easy sometimes to criticise competent new cars. I mean with the S8 customers will buy it because it's bigger than an S6 or S4 so buyers don't care that much about weight or they would buy the smaller model.
The ride on some S-line Audis wasn't great but neither is the ride on some M-sport BMWs (with run flats especially) so it's not just Audi that has that a mediocre low speed ride. Mercedes ride quality never seems to get as much criticism but then the equivalent Mercedes doesn't seem to have the handling precision of a BMW. Therefore you must decide what's more important.
About the new M3. I like the genuine weight reduction it's quite good and I think it's about the same as an E46 M3.
I'm sure people will 'miss' the V8 M3 for the same reason as people 'miss' the V10 M5. Those revvy supercar-esque engines sounded great and probably had more character. However this is the best turbo six BMW can make right now with loads of torque and much better fuel economy. I'm sure it will still be good even if it's not got the nice noise of the old car as people seemed to like the similar 1M coupe.

PMSL @ second paragraph, although have to agree with you on that.

Given that an E46 M3 cost the best part of £40k back in 2005, it's about right I'd say when inflation is taken into account.caymanbill said:

What an odd combination of apparent insults. This is how I see it- every 3-series generation since the E9x has been strangely proportioned in coupé form. They look very much like a 4-door car where someone has simply extended the roofline forwards to make a 2-door, which leads to them looking very arse-heavy. For me, a coupé should be: long bonnet, short rear overhang.
The reality is even more bizarre- the 4-series coupé is actually longer than the 4-door 3-series saloon. 4641mm versus 4624mm. That goes some way to explaining why it looks a bit dopey.

The reality, though, is that wages haven't increased at the same rate, meaning that it's less affordable should Average Joe wish to save up for one.Alucidnation said:
Another BMW love fest!
BMW have made a cracking car to add to an already impressive range of performance vehicles, for this you have to admire them. If Audi did the same I'm sure they would also receive a 'love fest', it's just a shame they don't. See how that works? Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
