I'd like a mini RS6.
Wouldn't that be the RS4? hehe
Still too big - see above!

An RS1 Avant (so, a sort of Estate A1?) would be even better.

Something that handles like my RX8, does 50MPG and can take all my dive gear.

I don't think it exists though...

Hmm, yes really small estate cars seem to have gone out of fashion recently. It wasn't that long ago that loads of polo-sized cars had estate variants, now I can't think of any except the Fabia (which has no hot version). I suppose the market has been wiped out by small "crossovers".

ETA: Is there still an Ibiza estate?

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
Make it a V12 with a normal gearbox and I'm in. And a huge wing on the back.

Right now, MX5.

In a few years time, hopefully something like an F-Type or Evora.

Probably a Cadillac CTS-V as I have 3 kids (big V8, RWD, good handling) but I would make do with an ATS-V at a push (big V8, RWD, good handling).
UK-wise, probably an XFR.

One of the 6-cyl E30 M3s by Alpina or Hartge would be very nice ta very much!

Well I suppose if I had to have one car for everything, a 1 Series would be reasonably practical - I'll have one of those 5 litre V8 ones Hartge made in that case!

A hot hatch. Should be 3 door, must be naturally aspirated.

Probably a 205 GTi, let's be honest.

Simple:

997.2 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with passive suspension on max 19" wheels with a set of 18" winter wheels. Has to be dark blue or dark green with extended leather in cocoa brown.

when did OP's "ideal" car turn into a one car for all? last page of posts is uninspiring.

I think an "ideal car" would have to be a pretty good all rounder or it wouldn't be ideal. There are plenty of "money no issue, what car?" threads. This one needs a bit more thought. I'm surprised Range Rovers haven't had more shouts to be honest.

I mean imagine commuting or doing a 600 mile motorway trip in a 205 GTI, would be horrendous.

Circumstances are personal.

I commute 100 miles (round trip) maybe once a month.
It's just me and the wife, no plans for kids.
Occasionally we need to take 2 cats to the vets.

Large items (Christmas tree, furniture etc) can be delivered.
If we really need to we can hire something. (Haven't needed to yet.)

MX-5 fits the bill for us perfectly.

Being one of five children, an MX-5 would not have been much use to my parents!

My X1 meets most of my needs;

Small enough to fit country lanes and pass other cars.

Big enough for four adults to travel in moderate comfort.

AWD but rear drive as default.

Boot large enough for holidays, plus extra room on top and a cycle carrier.

Auto box as I'm old and lazy/too befuddled to choose a gear

Quick enough to cruise the m/way, or blast off the grid to get a nose in front of Nico before T1...

Raised seating position so we all get a better view.

A 6cyl engine would be sweet (as fitted in USA) so maybe, one day.

sure, the term can be interpreted different ways, but we've had "just one car" threads before. So i took this to mean "your ideal configuration" like some of the opening posts stating V12, passive suspension, N/A, etc. To rephrase: "if you opened your garage door for a sunday drive and walked past the people carrier and work barge, what would be your ideal car to enjoy?"
