With options I expect £60k.....serious money - I think I will have the Alfa Quad instead.
It doesn't seem to make much sense to say the Audi is a £60k car because you'd spend 5 figures on options so you'd have a car with a base-price of £60k instead. And it has very good steering.

Exactly why cant it look like the Clubsport concept?Even the colour cant stop it looking like an s-line diesel.
Could of been so much more desirable in my opinion although I'm sure it will sound and drive nice.
I think Audis of late are starting to look a bit bland in general.
If I had the money for this then I'd save/rob whatever the difference was to buy the Alfa Giulia. I believe that this car is a slap in the face for the germans. Technology, pedigree, specification, it's here in bucket loads for comparatively speaking a bargain price.

It's like piston heads and Evo were at an entirely different event. Evo says the RS3 reaches "new heights" positively loves the car...

Every time I read a review, article about an Audi performance car it always sounds like a bit of an apology for a car that is nearly good enough but is never good enough. There always seems to be some fundamental flaws, steering, gearboxes etc. Top quality interior, mediocre car. I must stop opening articles about Audis.

I don't believe this car is as different as these two journalists say they are.

I read Evos review of the S5 sportback. In the main article itself they don't actually say anything (from memory) bad about the car, and the only negative is the gearbox which if it's that bad would surely be in the article, but they give it 3 stars. Just seems disjointed. Maybe it just doesn't do anything that well to justify a better score.Loyly said:
That saloon shape is so right. The small saloon is so woefully underrepresented these days but it is due a comeback. Finally, a saloon that fits on a British B road again!
I agree with you here. In the past who would have had an Orion 1.6i over a mighty Escort XR3i, but now this and the Mercedes AMG CLA saloon look better that the S3 and A series hot hatches. This engine is ripe for 500bhp also

Actually it says the M2 can be more fun and the Golf r might be sweeter, but really they don't and likely won't ever tell us how they really compare. The M2 actually has a few handling flaws and has lost many a comparison, so I wouldn't classify the RS3 as being a worse handling car. Also I'd really like to know if Audis new software changes the haldex give it more options than the golf and wether it compares well with the Focus RS- which Evo has also recently reversed their view of for rather unclear reasons. Evo and others are usually keen to not compare these cars too carefully as they like to keep their options open and not tick off some audiences. Poor reviewing and journalism for sure. The TT RS reckons to have settings for power distribution but (according to reviews) doesn't make it more tail happy or anything IIRC.I agree re the journalism. Very non committal, as most of them are now.

Totally agree. We need a new car magazine or an line site with great drivers and cars that reports on how these cars drive in some sort of on going basis- on all kinds of roads. What the hell os he difference anyway the circulation of these magazine is going down anyway do they really make that much money from these little videos that about 100 random YouTube producers.I agree re the journalism. Very non committal, as most of them are now.
I had two early A3's back in about 04 and 06. Great cars and at the time a bit different. Since then the styling boys have tinkered away and the purity of the original has been stretched and messed with so much that it's morphed into another VW group Eurobox. Shame. Hence why I think it's worth looking at the Italian and ford offerings which are looking great and driving very well as all rounders. Most of our miles are not done on the Evo triangle or a circuit. My comments about the £60k car were based upon my own experience of speccing Audis over many years - always seems to be a big extra bill to get them decently equipped.
The fun in Motoring for me is variety which is why I always have at least 5 cars with a wide spectrum of speed, space and grace (sic)

I've come to the M140i from a snotter mk1 Focus which threw it into sharper relief, I think. The Focus had really nice steering (and dynamics generally), despite its advancing years and miles.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the BMW, but found it quite telling that despite this and a £500 Focus not really bearing comparison in any way (price, age, performance, mileage, condition etc etc), and the BMW being a vastly better car in almost every way, there is one thing that the old car does so much better, and that you notice within 100 yds of driving the newer one.
The difference noted above is significantly greater than I noticed going from an F30 3-series to a B8 A4, for example. Although I accept they do vary, I still think EPAS is generally a bit rubbish for feel and connection to the road, and Audi's isn't much worse than BMW's (who don't get panned for it constantly).

In fairness the first generation ones are a terrific steer even in 1.6/1.8 form, Ford didn't muck about when it came to setting the Focus MK1 up, great little car!
These will be more or less resistant to theft (well, compared to the GR, S3) because thieves can't use them without being noticed and with all the lairy colours they are pretty much easily identified and won't make it outside the country unless it's in bits. And even then the 5 cylinder turbo would be a rare thing to see on ebay...
TLDR
will resist theft like the FRS
