Not trolling, but aren't TVR actual Classics already?

Newest Griffs and Chimps are 15yrs old, with the oldest being nearer 30.

£5k for early ones... big mileage...scruffy..
£18k for garage queen 2009 run out stuff (£500 a year tax?!)

Slap bang in the middle is the good stuff, responsibly used, 2005/6 facelift stuff....

£18k....what nearly new say 10,000 mile front engine, RWD open top offers so much fun?
Probably only two cars I can think of: MX5 and GT86/BRZ

You can get in to high mileage Z3M's at 18k too, which are appreciating by the looks of it.

Exactly, and the first two are down on power and and the GT86 not a drop top (which could be a good thing depending on your preference)

Z3M a good shout...

I think the e9x M3 will do quite well, particularly with a manual gearbox. Also pleasantly surprised that my 130i seemed to have stopped depreciating a good few years ago too so maybe, just maybe, they'll climb a tad as well given enough time

Definitely 335i with a manual gearbox. Not the coupe, but the e90 saloon. In black with mv3 alloys. Must be a £100k soon surely? Surely? No?

Honda NSX. Also not biased. They are such a bargain compared to similar age rivals.

I bet my money on a 996 last month. Although i'm not after appreciation, just depreciation free really.

I've bought an early (MY 00) C2 manual with 150k on the clock though. Intend to do 4k a year for next 5 years, hoping that 7k/ year makes it appealing as an average miler. hehe

Porsche 996 , Lotuse Elise S1 , Type R the Integra one and probably the fd2 import.

Infact it seem's most 80's forecourt fodder is going slowly skywards.

I'd love to agree with the M5 but they're just too much potential grief to become an appreciating-in-value classic. They're desirable now and people shy away from them.

Shame as they're magnificent machines but scary ownership prospects.

That looks fantastic - can't go down in value!

+1 for the E46 M3 also.

2 that won't go up in value are the E46 325ti Compact and the Z4 Coupe, as I have one of each. laugh

Mercedes C63 (6.2 NA) will be, these things are never going to be made in the same way, it's all about turbos and twin turbos now.

It just isn't the same, oh and did I mention the noise of the C63?

I kept looking at the 996 myself. First it was the turbo when they were about £25K. Then a Carrera 2 and then back again that I left it. I seem to remember them starting around £8K. Now it seems double that. I'm guessing you picked up a good deal?

I think you'll be waiting a long time for the 996 to show any significant rise, they're still in that awkward 'middle age' stage and think they will be for longer than previous generations a there were so many produced.

I suspect the BMW options (Z4m/e46 and e36 M3) may be a better bet over the shorter term. 10+ years maybe for the 996.
