so what are your thoughts on bull bars on the front of cars too then???

and not so illegal as you make out!

General Requirements
It is not illegal for vehicles to be fitted with bull bars, although the Department would not
recommend their fitment unless it has been shown, through compliance with specified safety
standards, that they do not pose an additional risk of injury to pedestrians or other vulnerable road
users.
There are no plans for legislation to require bull bars that are already fitted to be removed.
However, since 25 May 2007, it has been an offence for bull bars that have not been approved as
compliant with those safety standards to be sold. Approved devices will carry an indelible ‘e’ mark

Yes, thank you. A small - and shrinking - number.

Even then (and albeit redundant), like towbars but unlike your own little anal beads, they have an actual functional purpose other than causing injury and damage.

I'd say the advisory is wrong.

They ought to have failed it, removed them, and then passed it on the retest.
The advisory is correct. A vehicle can only fail on sharp edges that are caused by damage or corrosion.

well they are removed now and I can send them to you if you want so you can stick them up your ass then as it seems you have prior experience of shoving things up your own ass by calling them anal beads

Oh, gosh. "You're gay, you are". Most people decide that kind of insult is a bit lame when they leave primary school. Or Top Gear.

We call it an "arse" this side of the Atlantic, btw.

There does seem to be a theme of it recently. It's very odd.
It appears to be only people on PH who get all upset about them - personally if I was selling a car and some nobstain came round whinging about some advisory or other and doubtless wanting money off I'd probably just go inside and close the door and count myself lucky I'd avoided on of "those buyers".

Can't help much on the MOT, it's there forever now. Will kill the resale value.. maybe.

My mate's a tester and always puts "hilarious" things on my advisories... it could have been worse, he could have put "stey Nurburgring sticker on the boot"

BMW320CI, I really like your style of humour...... start a thread about an MOT advisory, put a silly sticker and some goth stuff on the back of your car, take a picture and post it! Sit back and watch PH carnage take place......

Verry funny!

and the difference between these and a tow bar are??
All disagreements aside. The difference is that a tow ball has a nice big radius but these are 'pointy'. I suspect if they were just a large radius (hemisphere) they wouldn't fail an MOT, would give the low speed protection you're after and wouldn't present a risk to anyone else.

I think you may be a little lucky that he didnt fail and then re-test you (for the reason above about you maybe refitting them).

Actually...... where is the car usually parked.... could do with some personal injury compensation. Might just pop round and fall on your spikey bits!!
