Let's see Hennessey Performance put it down the VAG test strip against the Chiron, for pink slips.
And John Travolta at the wheel?

For the record, the new Bugatti Chiron managed 13.1 seconds and 32.6 seconds, respectively
No it didn't. According to the article you linked to the Chiron's 0->400->0 took 41.96 seconds.
Since when does going 0-400 take the same time as 0-400-0? Unless it takes literally no time at all to go from 400-0, I don't see why that time seems unreasonable?

I hope I don’t ever see one, , Pussyfooting around Knightsbridge surrounded by a cohort of iPhones. But I suppose someone with enough oil wells will be sat in one dressed in I’ll fitting designer gear and sunglasses, at nigh, revving and revving it.

£1.2m for a one trick pony car that won't reach 300mph. Nah be rate.
No one knows if it's a one trick pony yet, I have to say that is a good looking car.

Exciting times. I hope 1600bhp through the rear wheels won't be wasted- it needs a very good TC programme to get such power on the ground.

Errrr, not yet though of course, as the first paragraph states: "to attempt a number of speed records" (future tense). It may have some computer predictions that have been run that say it might, but until it does it against a calibrated device in the real world, it's all PR horse manure and backslapping in the bar at SEMA.

Let's see Hennessey Performance put it down the VAG test strip against the Chiron, for pink slips.
even better would be a customer car doing this.

not sure there was a single unsupervised review of the last car

It should be running the same tyres as the Chiron from what i have read. However due to this being lighter John believes they can last to 300mph
Believes they can last....

How will the driver who goes for the 300 run fit his massive balls into the car?

Quite; one that wasn't using another customers engine or body panels too......

To clear a few things up, Autoblog had a more in depth conversation with Hennssey and they stated:

It's not aiming to set a record at the Nürburgring
He doesn't mind if there are other cars faster in that time bracket, just that the F5 will be under that seven-minute threshold
Whether the F5 can hit these performance targets will depend on V8 in the middle, the spec of which is not currently finalized
It is a fully original engine not based on any existing one, such as the LS-based unit in the Venom
It will probably have twin turbochargers, but that it might have more
Hennessey said the company is aiming for production and deliveries around 2019 or 2020

https://www.autoblog.com/2017/11/01/john-hennessey...

There's a lot of if's and maybe's in there, for bragging about a 300mph terminal speed capability at this very early stage

Hmmmmmm. I'll believe this when I see it.

1600bhp takes some cooling.

In any normal* gasoline IC engine, about 1/3rd of the power goes to work, 1/3rd to the exhaust and 1/3rd to heat dissipation.

Where are the radiators on this car that can dissipate 1600bhp?

*short of the *CCI weird things as in F1 and similar.

They could of course go to a number of bespoke builders for something for the street:

Is this still a heavily tricked up Exige or completely bespoke car now? Proportions still look similar to old Exile based Venom GT

Amazing thing to look at. Looks mental standing still.

Yeah aren't basically all of these based on LS' and similar even if they're nice billet ones aren't they?

I keep looking at Mast's offerings for mine haha.

But to say it's a "whole new thing" seems pretty bold!

really??? The Chiron/Veyron are stunning for sure but have been developed with, to all intents and purposes, an open cheque-book. This is up there with them, in outright performance terms, at the top of the treet for the cost of a pub-lunch - IMO that is far more amazing
as the other poster said, anyone can just buy a hurracan then go to underground racing and tune it to 1700bhp and in theory it'd go to near 300mph

the chiron is beautiful built, rides well, is perfectly reliable yet has 1500bhp which can be deployed in a manner no other extremely high powered car ever has been able to do.

drive a brabus rocket with 800bhp and then you'll appreciate just how insane it is that the chiron has near double the power yet puts it down effortlessly whilst the brabus struggles at near half throttle in most conditions

you won't see one and the venom wasn't exactly a fashionable car to pose with either. the reliability is too poor etc
I've never seen a Venom in knighsbridge and I don't think one has ever been photographed there - not even sure they sold any to anyone in the uk actually

I don’t understand why there is a split line from headlamp to wheelarch. The front clam is one piece, there’s no bonnet/bumper split.

My Elise has the same, as it is originally in two pieces (I think?) and joined together during manufacturing to give us the "single piece" clam.

Drag cars were doing almost 400mph on the track in the 1980s.

Hennessey should easily be able to top 300mph in the 2010s.
