I don't hate them. Not something I'd ever own, but I could see a dinky little RS-engined cabrio being a fun holiday rental.

I saw someone who had crashed theirs into a bus - needless to say that they broke wind

The car was wedged under the bus - it was trapped wind

As I was driving past the wreckage I looked and realised I'd passed wind

Not sure what this gives you more than a £1k Vauxhall Tigra other than terrible terrible visibility.

Tigras are woeful in every sense, the Wind is just a bit odd to look at but is good fun to drive.

I find it hard to believe they weren't smirking when they named their new car Dynamic Wind.

I know it's spelt differently but still.

. I never realised it was the engine from the Renaultsport Twingo though, until now.

With that being said, i'd just buy a Twingo 133 if i wanted something similar that's small, quirky and cheap to run.
I'd have to concur, Twingo 133 had such great reviews and seems a lot more practical for what I need from a car ( I.e. More than 2 seats! )

I've always had a soft spot for these, they're not the prettiest but they do have character!

I own a Twingo 133 so even if the handling is 90% of what that does but you can flip the roof back, could be a bit of fun.

Look at the side proportions of it, it's all slab-sides, massive a pillars and HUGE windscreen area. Could have been so good. Got it so wrong. And I'll bet build quality is "typical Renault", too.

Exactly this. There's so much bulk for a small car the roofless part is barely larger than a letterbox. A very unappealling car that suggests the driver is clueless and/or tasteless.

The very handsome and slightly more practical 306 Cabrio could be bought for less money.
I can only assume that the 'design' was hampered by having to use the hard points of the Twingo body. A short, tall, hatchback is one thing. Trying to make a convincing two-seat convertible out of it was always going to end in tears.

In contrast, the 2004 concept car of the same name was quite alright in an MX-5 meets Suzuki Capuccino sort of way, albeit - if driving reports from back then are to be believed - a triumph of style over substance.

Renault has a habit of doing this - anyone remember the Vel Satis concept car that came several years before the dumpy not-quite-a-saloon-but-no-MPV-either of the same name that sadly became production reality? What were they thinking - 'ah alright, this will have to do?'

I've always thought that the Tigra's weren't that badly received? I've never driven one, mind.

But, is it really worth 4k more than the Vauxhall? I think that's what he's getting at.

Mmm...I have one of these but with the TCE that could be mapped.

Much better value than Twingo GT or Cup in my view...

Shocking ride, but great handling - can easily do lift off over steering...

Not the most masculine car, but if it's a good car, why do I care about labels...

Mrs had a brand new Tigra on their rerelease 1.8 version, I really like it to drive - interior was essentially a corsa but very functional ... great value at their current prices

I’ve always had a soft spot for topless frenchies and this is no exception, id even pay the £5k for one, I think they’re quite cool and quirky and relatively rare on the roads ... plus the roof mech is great!

Always reminded me of a surgical shoe. Just no. Plus whenever you arrive anywhere, people will say "Have you got the Wind?"

I sense I'm not in the majority here but I really like slightly silly cars like this. I love the stubby 'noddy-car' proportions and I think its a far more elegant solution with the superamerica style roof on such a small car compared to dreadful folding metal CC jobs. If they had sold these here in Australia I would definitely check one out as a used buy.

I must be on my own here but I think this is one of the pretiest little cars Renault has done since - ever?

That roof is just great and whoever thought that name up at least has a sense of fun.

The new Alpine A110 is prettier but that's not really a comparison.
