Having looked in my rear view mirror because I could swear I saw a few puffs of grey/white smoke I decided "Probably nothing" and put all 900hp down on the road for a few seconds, after which I could DEFINITELY see grey/white smoke biggrin

If I'd gone with my initial thought of "did I just see smoke, I'll just pull over and check" I may have avoided a year long rebuild frown

A bit too fast going into my garage, road outside has quite a camber so the front splitter on the Alfa is very close to the cutaway in the pavement as it goes in. Too close if you don't creep up to it.

Crunch.

bks.

Today I allowed myself to get a bit frustrated after queuing for ages at a 5-way temporary traffic light junction where no work was being done just two blokes dressed in day-glow looking at a kerb. After exiting said junction I did 42 in a 30.

It's just your tyres.

Summer tyres certainly don't help but I'm sure I'd have sailed up in a mighty Citroen AX (my first car) - those things loved the snow and a bit of off-roading!

I must have gotten used to having to depress the clutch pedal in my car before the engine will start.

Having to move my friends car the last weekend I jumped in, put my foot on the clutch like I normally would but didn't check the handbrake was applied.

The car (with me apparently in full control) very slowly started rolling down his drive into his partners car. furious

Wondered why the car in front had pulled over and parked without indicating, overtook it, then found it had just stopped at the back of a queue of traffic. Traffic coming the over way less than impressed with me, but a nice lady in a Merc let me back in.
I see this a lot as a bus driver, if I'm in a que of traffic close to the nearside curb it's worse as all it takes is one car and the rest follow thinking I'm serving a stop lol

How did he take it?

I think the main failing there is him not applying the handbrake!

He took it fine, just laughed it off as one of those things. I guess because he had a tow bar fitted.

She was not so happy however. she is off to get a new license plate and has a chips-away type appointment for later in the week.

It's probably going to cost me 100 - 150 quid but at really was my mistake so I can't really complain.

Travelling north on the A1 between Christmas and new year (2 lane section), much busier than I expected so I was in a bit of a bad mood.

Overtaking a string of lorries in a bit of a queue of slightly faster moving traffic I suddenly notice a Golf absolutely charging up the ‘fast’ lane behind, only slowing down when about a metre behind me. Then stays resolutely glued to my bumper as I’m overtaking. This irks me.

In the ‘slow’ lane ahead is an old VW camper indicating to pull out to overtake yet another lorry. As I’m now feeling grumpy with the Golf, I lift off and let the camper out in front of me. Golf driver is now gesticulating wildly and even closer. I follow the camper past the lorry very slowly.

It’s now time to pull in, so I deliberately pull across really slowly. Golf driver overtakes me while I’m still halfway back to the left hand lane. He’s got two wheels on the grass.

My wife is distinctly unimpressed with me and I spend the next hour of our journey apologising to her. Normally I have a rule about not getting involved with other drivers’ fkwittery, but this guy just flicked my switch…

putting my foot in with a newly fitted Quaife ATB in my Mini and not expecting to be launched a lot tighter left than I already though was a bit chancy.

pulled left so hard it climbed the kerb and 'just' put a 1/2" nick in one of my brand new OEM R112 rims. Every day's a school day eh.

Tried for a spot of lift off oversteer in my 182 on a well know slippy roundabout and just got disappointing understeer.

Went for another go on the way back but with a dab of handbrake and it shot me straight round and into the middle of the roundabout into the shrubbery getmecoat
When they go , they go heroically, I had a similar experience but managed to keep it on the road, just...

Pretty sure our grossly over-funded traffic police spend many hours surfing the web looking for such posts. The prosecution rate for traffic offences where the only evidence is a post on a web forum traceable solely to an IP address is close to 100%.
