I love how car companies just keep coming up with answers to questions no one ever asked. Like hmmm people buy SUVs for practicality I know lets make a less practical ugly version.
Mercedes are probably looking at the Unimog and thinking we need a track day version of this to go alongside the C63 black just to finish off the range.
Brabus have done a Unimog.Mercedes are probably looking at the Unimog and thinking we need a track day version of this to go alongside the C63 black just to finish off the range.

Wish they'd gone the other way and come up with a stretched 7 seater version.. options in this segment are limited.
Agreed - don’t see the point of this. I always felt the Macan was the ‘coupe’ version of the Cayenne. Macan = X3 and Q5
Cayenne = X5 and Q7
This = X6 and new Q8

Serious question. Which Roadster looks better than the 981/982 Boxster? F Type? 4C? I am genuinely interested. If you want an element of practicality, the Boxster is in a class of one with its two boots. It’s also the best handling Roadster this side (the practical side) of an Elise. If the 4 cylinder engine is a deal breaker, Porsche will sell you a very low mileage 6 cylinder one from the same showroom that the new ones emerge from. So, is there a better looking, or indeed better, Roadster than the Boxster? I haven’t seen it.
Exige 350, 410 and 430?Regarding the Cayenne 'coupe', I'm sure it will sell well, VAG are good at these niche cars, people seem to love them.

Why is Porsche so determined to make all their cars look awful?
Yes, the 981 Boxster, 997 Turbo, 991 911R, 928 GTS, 959 and so on are such notorious eyesores.myhandle said:

Why are Porsche not bankrupt?
All of their cars are ugly have have been for the last 50+ yrs.
They are not only ugly but extremely repulsive especially the non GT 911s, boxsters and caymans.
I don't care if you buyers think they have some sort of prestige to their badge. The cars look cheap and boring like all range rovers.

There's a definite trend for folks driving around with their speed-deployed spoilers manually up around town. I imagine this was the motivation behind putting one on this suv.
One day soon I'm going to come across the holy trilogy of my automotive annoyances.... An SUV with blacked out windows, personalised plate and retractable spoiler up at low speed! Coming to a school run near you...

I like most things Porsche do, but this just looks like something the marketing department have come up with. There is no need whatsoever...

...but it will sell like hot cakes....Need is not just defined by functionality but by also by desire. I need an expensive car with a nice badge to impress my neighbors.

There's still no need. There's no need for pretty much any of the tosh Porsche puts out these days.
What an odd comment. When you refer to the "tosh" Porsche put out are you saying there's no need for high performance sports cars as well? In which case should the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes AMG division, BMW's M-division, etc also shut down?FWIW I dislike Porsche's SUV range (and I dislike most SUV's) but if someone wants to buy one then I'd defend their right to do so. As a car enthusiast I appreciate that people have different tastes, and if a manufacturer has produced something which adheres to all the relevant laws and regulations then why shouldn't people buy them.

I can see why that must annoy you so much, and especially so that the parents of children use a big car to carry kids around in (I'm being sarcastic by the way, just in case). Must be so annoying! I get annoyed by things, but someone else driving in their own car which they like isn't one of them. Sounds like petty to be honest.One day soon I'm going to come across the holy trilogy of my automotive annoyances....
