RE: Lister announces 'world's fastest SUV'
Discussion
Fantastic, so glad they are making this. Must be an absolute rocket ship. My current daily (ML55) was the fastest SUV in 2000 when it came out and is certainly no slouch, with mid 6's to 60. Things have got quite a lot quicker since then! Weirdly, the ML stole the crown from the holder then, which was also a Lamborghini, the LM2002.

How else do you cruise at 150mph on the autobahn with your 4 sprogs and all their outdoor kit? I didn’t think I’d like these sort of SUVs having come from 3 Discos in a row but hats off to SWMBO they’re brilliant.

I want to dislike that, but I just can't It's a Jaguar with a few aftermarket go-faster bits thrown at it. That they'll sell a tiny number and of that number almost nobody will push it hard renders the fact it might be a bit explodey almost irrelevant. Would it pass OEM level durability tests? Doubt it.
If I buy an Urus, throw it at a tuner, then call it a 'Dr G mega super wizard go fast 4x4' am I then allowed to claim this record?

Tuners will already be working on the Urus.
They (kind of) already have - engine is little removed from the unti in an RS6/7 which has demonstrated its potential to do big numbers many times over.If I buy an Urus, throw it at a tuner, then call it a 'Dr G mega super wizard go fast 4x4' am I then allowed to claim this record?

So you'd drive one of these tanks down the autobahn with your 4 kids and their outdoor kit at a steady 150mph would you?(photos of massive whale-like generic German 'prestige' SUV deleted)
Let's hope you don't get the sinister Doktor Helmut Knobcheese pulling out in front of you at 55mph in his 1976 VW Golf 1.3 to overtake Herr Dirk Schimmelpfennig and family in their 1981 Opel Rekord 1.6 diesel, pulling a 20 foot 4 wheel caravan, trundling along at 50mph.
In all seriousness, cruising at 150mph? With your kids? In something with the dynamic characterisitics of a builder's skip?

Jaguar really need a Bling Division due to their dull as ditch water standard products.
I really wanted to like the F Type but ultimately it doesn’t look right.
Similarly the cooking F Paces look bulbous and under-wheeled.
Lowered to hell and plonked on 22+ wheels they start to look the part.

Agree, painting something a bright colour and sticking a badge on the back just doesn't cut the mustard for some.I really wanted to like the F Type but ultimately it doesn’t look right.

Maybe that's why Mansory, Brabus and that Afghan laundrette from Bradford do so well?
If it's offered "in house" with a warranty then all the better for the manufacturer despite the possible end products.
As for comparing a BMW 5 series estate to the pictured Merc , oh dear, poles apart on all needs before you even get to the numbers.............
