I got a 570S from Mclaren last year
It’s done 1000 Miles......
.......losing tens of thousands a year plus servicing, tracker, insurance etc for so few miles just seems like a waste of money when there are so many other things you can do with the cash
So drive it more, get your moneys worth, simples It’s done 1000 Miles......

I’m surprised the nose lift hasn’t stopped working the amount of times you have to use it and on bumpy roads it’s just easier to go quicker in an m4 or something.
It seems a good idea on the internet but in real life it’s always the keys to the ‘daily’ that get picked - even for car events!
Went to salon prive and turned up in non salon prive type car, enjoyed looking at everyone else’s super car that they had to drive home whilst I just got drunk on champagne and got a taxi back to my hotel
Reality different to perception is how I’d put it. Great fun if you have rented spa for a day but real world? Hmmm
I get enzos, f40s, caterham r500, e30 m3 and so on because you can use them and they kind of hold their money so you can kind of justify it but a car just slumping in value for the little you use it is a little off putting - well it is for me at least but still the 600LT looks lovely and it will drive well on a track
Ultimately it will look good outside a pub in Cheshire but secretly the owner will want to have got a taxi so he can have a few beers or will want a Range Rover outside so he can open the door without hitting the kerb!!!

I have to wonder, at this rate of progress, where will McLaren be in another 10 years? For a company that only really started making road-cars in 2010, their rate of progress is astounding!
McLaren SUV I would have thought? Seems to be the way most of the others have gone to survive.jonah35 said:
I got a 570S from Mclaren last year
It’s done 1000 Miles
The Mclaren dealer I bought it off didn’t want it back as there is ‘too much stock’
The only dealer willing to give a price offered £60k less than I paid
Servicing has been dire - some dealers quoting 50% more than others for the same first service and making a hash of booking it in
I was going to look at the 600LT and they only wanted £10k deposit but i think your money would be much safer in a huracan performance and it would sound better too
All in all I’m disappointed with Mclaren - they’re like the Hublot of the watch world whereas Lamborghini understand the market more
Sure it will be a great car and if you genuinely don’t mind losing a fair old chunk of cash go for it. It probably won’t depreciate like a 570S but losing tens of thousands a year plus servicing, tracker, insurance etc for so few miles just seems like a waste of money when there are so many other things you can do with the cash
Most supercars of that value would drop 60k if you wanted a cheque settlement after 1000 miles, it is no longer new, has lost the vat and dealer profit and the next buyer needs a profit and warranty cost protection. Why sell a car after 1000 miles? Keep it longer, drive it more and the depreciation will not be the same % per mile. I doubt 15000 miles would give much value difference. It’s done 1000 Miles

Great review Matt,of what’s clearly a fabulous car. I don’t post much but I wanted to give my view on a couple of posts themes that this story seems to have created. When will everyone wake up and accept you should buy a car you can afford knowing it will depreciate. The last 6-7 years are an anomaly driven by low interest rates and people buying ‘investments ‘ which are capital gains free. Once cheap money starts to become expensive (as it is now. Evoking) the secondhand car market will stall as a lot of these investors are now sellers not buyers. Ask any car dealer out there, unreliistic prices from sellers who don’t want to accept what their ‘investment’ is really worth now. In the long run this is good for petrol heads.
Mclaren residuals and servicing are not up to some other marquees standards ( yet) but if you look back in time you could see Ferrari’s from the 60’s were worth very little in 70 and early 80’s while more established marque like Bugatti Tyler 35 were still sought after.
I am lucky enough to own a 675LT and done 8900 miles in 2 years. It is the most amazing machine and very capable of doing the motorway miles as well the fun stuff. I have had no issues at all except my DAB Radio not working for awhile. I have no doubted benefited from it being the fully developed version of the original 12C/650. It’s had two services which were expensive. This is where mclaren need to encourage ( let?) some independents to set up so the equivalent of an Autofarm for can take care of older Mclarens This will build long term brand loyalty for lots of reasons The 12C is amazing performance car for the money, it might depreciate further but what else could you buy for 80-90K to give you that type of performance?
Finally yes if I had to sell my LT I would lose money but I’d rather lose money having enjoyed 8900 miles ( so far) then bought it ( or any other super car) and done no miles to ‘protect’ it’s value. We are only on the planet once, buy what you can afford and use it.
ps would recommend to spec mclarens with limited extras especially the ‘carbon fibre’ as that is where the depreciation comes in dispite what the salesperson might tell you

I watched a couple of the youtube reviews of the 600LT last night (Harry Catchpole and Steve Sutcliffe) who looked to be at the same launch event. Both were gushing with praise. Sutcliffe naturally compared it to the GT3 RS as the track focussed version and concluded the Porsche wouldn't be able to stay with a 600LT on the track, given the universal journalistic love for the GT3, that's quite a statement.
Love or hate the marque, the looks, the value, they have certainly made a very impressive car. God I want a 600LT...…..

There was a 720s in white at my local Aston Martin dealer recently , prob the best looking car I’ve seen there .
Don't be daft - according to PH folklore they look absolutely gooping, are basically a 12c with a bodykit and a remap, and the engine sounds worse than your average ride-on lawn mower..(ps.- I agree with you )

It's that period of time "several years", that many owners may find themselves in positions where they want / need to do something different. Buy a house, expand a business, etc, and they might now find themselves having to sell an asset that they would have preferred not to, but due to the extended runway of "several years", they might be in a position of golden handcuffs.
Others might think, fk it, I'll invest the money in hookers and blow, and waste anything left over on the wife + mistress and kids.
so the LT is the lightweight version of the 570s
lighter exhuast - 12.6kg
removal of a/c -12.6kg
lightweight wheels -17.kg
lighter seats -26.kg
thinner carpet - 5.6kg
total = -75.6kg
exhaust - £4k (https://quicksilverexhausts.store/collections/mclaren-570s/products/570s-ceramic-coated-system)
removal of aircon - £idk
wheels - ~£6k ?
lighter seats - £5k
thinner carpet - £100 or less
£15kish to get your 570s 75% there yourself, but having said that the £35k premium on a 570s isn't that bad
