I remember when the 's' audi meant something. it's crazy world when it l know put on on a big stupid derv suv, coming to new build estates near you.
Ze Germans ( and Ford, Jag etc) have big investment in diesels,
hence they aren't so keen that the wave of popularity is wearing thin on it and would sell every last unit if they could before it goes over the rails like their namesake. Oh the irony

It is ze last great push.....

Im guessing its for a large number of people who can't actually afford a car as expensive as this, so its really on a lease?
They can't afford the fuel either so it has to be diseasel .........? I can't logically think of any other reason TBH.
What about somebody who does loads of miles and therefore to justify a car with this performance needs it to be alright on fuel?

Also, whilst not logical there are plenty of people who can afford cars like these but don't like spending money on fuel regardless of how insignificant the fuel cost is vs cost of ownership of the car in general.

Regardless of how somebody funds a car they are paying for the depreciation on it which is actually the main cost of car "ownership"

According to fuelly, the median for the old model was 25mpg, people don't buy it to save money, maybe the perception of money saving.

You're being way too factual and rational here Tom - can't you let the negativity, assumptions, bitterness and prejudice express themselves without challenge ?

I have one and have done 20k miles in the last year in it. Great car and 40mpg easily achievable. Lots of shove due to the torque and doesn't do any school runs as others have alluded to. The car is all about the engine and it is fast. Not the best fast car of course but a good all rounder. Will miss it when it is eventually gone. Now converted to V6 diesels as 2.0 four's do not cut it whatsoever in comparison.

I'm sure that person appreciates the reply, 4 years later.
