RE: Audi R8 V10 Performance meets R8 V8
Discussion
I guess that's part of the image with these; people don't know if you're a genuine motoring enthusiast, or just another money market jock in need of a trophy to show off in Knightsbridge. To be fair, though, the same problem afflicts most other supercars. The nice thing about the early cars is that they maybe escape this now.
I had an original V8 model back in 2008 so I have a bit of a soft spot for them.
I have not seen one in the flesh for a long time and then saw one at an Audi dealers last week and had forgotten just how low and purposeful they look in the metal.
The latest model is very nice but has lost the simplicity of design of the original. Still looks good though and has a far better interior
I’ve done my R8 thing though so would probably not get another ... I think!
Edit for speeling orrors

Didn't realise Barbara Cartland was still alive and writing motoring articles for PH, a sickly sweet article, yuk.
As for the car, quite like the original but prefer a 911.

Not sure it this is allowed but I have a lovely example in the classifieds at the moment, if anyone is tempted
Good looking car. The wheels lift it significantly.Would you mind sharing the specs of the wheels? Diameter, width, offset and tyre sizes. Any issues with tramlining? Thanks.

Agreed with you but would also add that the race to produce ever faster cars has also driven the move to automatics, as the limiting factor becomes the human, being able to change gears quickly enough? Also, I don't think tomorrow's car enthusiast (if they exist in the electric/black-box/speed-limiting world) will have the same desire for a manual.
Let's come back in 15 years and see if the 30-somethings of 2034 are lusting after the manual, or the R/Stronic...
Ah the R8 V8 is such a classic I lusted after one for years and managed to scratch the itch in its big brother the gen 1 facelift V10 plus, ran that for two years and it was a joy. The newer ones angular styling is divisive I like the rear end and the more muscular profile the front not so sure about. The performance is biblical tho. Interestingly enough I was in the Middle East recently and managed to hire a Huracan for a day. Epic car but it did highlight what great value a used gen 2 R8 plus is given the identical performance and the r8 interior with virtual cockpit is better than the Huracans. The amount of attention the Lambo got would wear thin very quickly for me also. I’d be tempted to go for a gen2 plus as my next car but McLaren cannot ignored given used 570s’ are about 100k now
