Also, as vulgar as it may be, the GP3 ordering thread in the MINI forum has christened those arch extensions as Pi$$ Flaps.

I’m a big MINI and GP fan, but I really hope that name sticks laugh

I see MINI are going down the route Citroen did with the Cactus - in having stick on body panels to take the brunt of car park dings laughlaugh

Yep, intended as a road car but a tad more focused (stripped out interior, roll cage, 2 seater etc); I'd only be concerned about the dBA level of the exhaust - the JCW Bluetooth exhaust is quite loud and track day sound limits are getting ever quieter laugh

I would be staggered if it is anywhere near 1100kg, that's 80kg less than an R53 GP and roughly the weight of a Clio 182 Cup. I'm sure it will be great fun to drive either way.

Uncompromising = Look vulgar

All the scoops, spoilers, etc will appeal to the youth, but I think the price point will be anything but `Youth`.

The MK1 GP works hit the sweet spot. They've just got more vulgar as they progress.
There's plenty of market for vulgar but pricey e.g. latest FFRR.

Odd, I just bought a jcw for precisely the opposite to what you wrote.

It’s a fantastic little thing which doesn’t suffer from lack of a lsd. The build quality puts my Panamera to shame and it never fails to amuse.

I had the car you mentioned for a day as a loan car and whilst there is some notable difference I still found that fun.
The chassis is good but the steering lets it down in a big way (not just being picky here for the sake of internet argument; coming from hydraulic rack cars it was a real shock) - I felt completely isolated from the front wheels. The brakes also faded when giving it some welly after a few miles on a quiet country road. The thing I liked most was the infotainment system and voice control which were both were superb, but as a fun drivers car I just couldn't like it.

The GP2 looked great. This looks like a Pikes Peak wannabe. I doubt It'll make it to production without being very toned down.

Can’t disagree on the steering feel but as far as the new systems go it’s not bad (much better than the m3 I found), the era of proper steering feel is behind us frown

The brakes on the jcw are much better so perhaps the fades something less of an issue.

Regarding the delivery. It’s never going to be as nice as NA or a charger but I find it a lot better than the 718. Now there is an engine that sounds and drives like a diesel. I’m not much of a fan of fi four pots but from a raft of choices for the daily, it’s simply the best little fun package, I expect the gp3 to be really good.

I am concerned this thing is going to be hilariously expensive. £40+k? More?
