At an age appropriate hotel that's suited to your budget!

I'm 30 and drive a 5-series estate which I get told is a 'dad car'. Whatever bruv, I need it to put my mountain bike in and I like a big car.

That said, I bought a V8 Vantage at 28 because I wanted to do it before I got too old and it looked a bit too 'predictable'. I got a surprising amount of comments about being 'too young' to have that so who knows.

Thanks for the advice! thumbup

I just qualified for free prescriptions, and would struggle to find a room number if my specs fell off. laugh

Still it's interesting to see how people interpret things!

All seems like nonsense to me. 70 years old.

2018 Panamera ST Turbo ( old guy car)?

2005 Smart Fortwo ( ditto)

2003 SL 500..definitely

2012 Jeep Wrangler - Maybe?

2008 997.1 GT3RS..maybe?

2016 991 GT3RS..probably not.

Purple actually. My Cooper S and Type R were red, my 135i was black and my 35is was deep sea blue. My M4 is Yas Marina Blue (even though I thought I’d go Austin gold as Phoenix yellow in the E46 is my all time fave). The R32 is Dark Blue with gold wheels, the 595 is two shades of grey (campovolo and record grey) with white wheels and the RR sport is Stornaway Grey because I refuse to have a black one....even if he thinks it’s ‘gangster’
You can get a BMW M car in Twlight Purple, individual colour, there’s a female (funny enough) in a M3 Comp in that colour in my village, also Scottish (not lying)!! Her partner drives a M5 Competition. Both love to rag their cars around.

The Yas Marina Blue suits the M4 the most, really sets it apart from a regular 4 series.

On the topic of age and cars, I drive the new Civic Type R and I’m 25, I guess I’m the perfect match however every other Type R I’ve seen on the road has been driven by 50+ year olds, they even wave at me or give me a nod, love it biggrin

Any SL/CL Benz screams 50+, if I had the money, I’d much rather spend that money on something more fun.

The new 8 series may cost the same as the S-Coupe but it’s aimed at an entirely different market I reckon.

I'm 42, married with two kids. I drive a Focus ST3. I bought it brand new 3 years ago. I've always been into cars. The Focus best suited my budget. Who cares about age group.

The Honda Jazz comment certainly resonates - the only one I have ever seen driven by anyone under 60 was driven by a local garage mechanic who thought it too good and low mileage not to keep and use himself when it came in part ex at his garage. I have just given my son-in-law a 2002 Honda Civic (it looks like Honda's design mule for the Jazz), and he's only 37, but he drives like his grandmother, who's been dead for 15 years.

I knew my life was over about 20 years ago when I started thinking Volvo Estates looked nice.....and now at 65 I seem to buy Saab Estates one after another as my daily drive.
My other car is a 4.6 Turbo TVR in a fairly lurid colour, but that is owned by my inner 25 year old, who still needs to feel alive occasionally.

Haha, that black RR remark. Some lovely machines in your stable there.
Porka does some decent purples at the moment actually. Now that we are on caterory defiance already I’d love purple on an AM.

Yeah absolutely. I've always liked the Fiesta ST's, they're more for younger drivers but that said you see quite a lot people from any age driving them.

My cousin said i didn't look old enough to drive the 340i (24 when i bought it and I look young)

Mate at work drives a new Merc C class. We ask if it's his dad's car as he's 21.

Car models are always 'aimed' at a part of the population, but noone has to abide by that. Drive whatever the hell you want! smile
That makes sense - when I was 20 (a long time ago) I wanted a 3 litre Capri, but insurance was a nightmare!

So I bought a P6 Rover 3500S which was really aimed at the "pipe and slippers" brigade, but was also a quick car back in the late 70s.
Quicker than any Crapi, they turn and stop quicker too. And took muck longer to fall apart.

Strangely enough I bought the SL new in 2003. Yes,definitely screams old,but it has some advantages is you understand it is not a sports car but a two door cruiser. It is great for a cruise on a hot evening in the desert, immensely comfortable and a good weekender if you have the fitted luggage. Only has 36000 miles on it as just an occasional car, but fit for purpose.

I bought a Mondeo at 17. A decade later, I now have two!

The number of "Dad's car" comments were unreal.

When I was in my late 20's early 30's I owned a brown Triumph Dolomite Sprint.

I'm now 45 an we have a bright blue Suzuki Swift Sport. Make of that what you will.

Well rewinding some decades my first car when I was 17 was a MK2 Cortina, so not too much seems to have changed! (Although I never had another one). laugh

When you give a toss what other people, the majority of whom you will never meet or know, think of your car you need to have a chat with yourself.
