Good grief I had no idea GF, I've been avoiding the place since the Stonecutters moved in.

This isn't the thread for it but I'm amazed that PH have rolled over to these absurd playground bullies.

Yes, it was very strange how those reasonably new members were able to sweep in en masse and dictate PH policy/moderation. Something clearly went on behind the scenes and others were banned too.

As you say, not the thread for it, but very disappointing nonetheless.

Compared to newer stuff from Ferrari, they come with 5 yrs free maintenance covering everything except tires, same as the 5k cover at McLaren or Thorney's near 3k.
Not quite is it? Ferrari have 7 years free servicing (which afaik does not include consumables) but 4 years of manufacturer warranty. The cost of extending the Ferrari warranty after 4 years presumably isn't going to be too far away from the £4k or so (£5k for 5+ year cars) on the Mclaren warranty. The cost of annual servicing is probably around £1-1.5k so the Ferrari service package, while certainly 'nice to have' isn't quite the same as covering everything as you mention for that period of time.

If its done so many miles and only had 1 or 2 owners then id imagine it would be a reasonably healthy proposition over a 8 owner 5k mile car that's 20k more. All problems if any ironed out.
That also depends if you think the car is actually built to last. I'm not exactly convinced of that any longer as my old car (12c) was completely reliable up until it hit 6 years and 35k miles (albeit with a fair amount of track miles) then stuff just kept on going wrong despite having done a good bit extra servicing/maintenance on it over the years.....

The markets perception of these cars values and repair bills are what makes it such a difficult car to buy. I thought long and hard and no question its a mega machine to drive but they are simply not a liquid asset.

Can someone give examples of eye watering maintenance or repair costs for these or 12C?

Any supercar will be expensive to run and maintain.

90k sounds a bargain - need to know what worst case scenario is with annual running costs.
Massive money.

Whilst banning you does seem a little heavy handed it does beg the question as to why you want to hang out on McLaren forums when it seems you are not a fan?

There’s lots of things I don’t like but I don’t frequent forums dedicated to them in order to repeatedly tell people.

Just seems like a huge waste of time

Perhaps you’re not one of the provocateurs and got caught in the crossfire and perhaps some McLaren owners are a little over-sensitive but there are plenty on here that repeatedly go looking for a fight and it gets very boring.

And then you try and add an extended warranty (how much!!!). And the crazy maintenance bills....

I'm currently considering a McLaren, but the unknown bills and continuing depreciation is putting me off.

The 90k 650S could be £50k in two years.
Thorney Motorsport will warranty it for £2,850 a year, way less than McLaren and look after many McLarens, mine included.

I've put 5,500 miles on it since March with the only failure being a turbo hose clip.
Interesting to note thanks for sharing-the McLaren warranty is 5k. Under 3k is a different proposition

Whilst banning you does seem a little heavy handed it does beg the question as to why you want to hang out on McLaren forums when it seems you really are not a fan?

There’s lots of things I don’t like but I don’t frequent forums dedicated to them in order to repeatedly tell people.

And are you really surprised that McLaren owners get tired of a Lamborghini owner visiting a dedicated McLaren forum and constantly telling them their cars are rubbish?

Or perhaps you think you’re doing everyone a public service?

By all means cry foul at the moderators for censoring your enlightened posts but perhaps everyone needs to do a little bit of growing up - even you.

Hope so! Can’t see it though, the 720 was major improvement.

A mclaren will be my next car. 3k warranty from thorny and it’ll end up costing me a lot less than my e60 m5 to run!

Hard to know where to start.

Hanging out on the McLaren forum? I think I commented on 3 threads.

And anyone can comment on any thread they wish, as I'm sure you're aware.

I wasn't constantly telling people their McLarens are rubbish either. If that was the case, why would Brad, a multiple McLaren owner, be fine with me.

It was the MOC cliques attitude that caused problems across their entire forum. Case in point, Brad, amongst many others, thinks they are ridiculous. If my opinion as a Lamborghini owner doesn't count, perhaps his does?

As for your public service and growing up comments, well the less said about them the better.

Brad and I already agreed this isn't the thread for this. Hopefully you can see that too, so I won't derail things anymore. If I comment again, it will be on topic only.
So why post?

I'll leave you to it. I'm not getting into this st again with the McLaren clique.

Loads of people have not been toeing the MOC line on this thread by voicing their reservations about the marque but I'm being singled out yet again.

I'm not rising to it.

By all means have the last word. I won't read it or respond.
