At 44K is ticking all the right boxes! Lordy 0 - 60 in 4.8! Yeah, that's plenty quick enough... I can see the 440i getting replaced by that and then some...

When the time comes.
I have the X3M and it's lovely don't listen to the usual PH SUV naysayers, I've come to this from a string of rwd M cars and a 911 and these new breed of "sporty" SAV/SUV's are cracking cars to drive.

Tested in the right colour ... boring, anonymous grey.

The epitome of Porsche banking on the PCP crowd; drivers most concerned with the badge.

Doubt Herr Dr. Ferry would be particularly proud.
Good to see an SUV thread promoting the usual high standard of engagement from some quarters smile

Herr Dr would be grateful such a vehicle funded his legacy.

Anyway I had a previous gen Macan Turbo. Without a doubt definitely one of the best all founders I’ve ever owned and in hindsight I should have kept it longer. Beautifully built, practical, quick, and fun to drive. I took it to Wales a couple of times and on a crisp cold slightly slippy early morning across the Elan valley it was an absolute delight.

Thanks to Porsche paint to sample it wasn’t grey either smile

I like these and love that yellow one. I've had lots of estates but I will think about a Macan as a next car. The Merc I have is too big. Are Macans really a vandal magnet?

At £70k this looks something of a bargain.

I'm interested.

I believe so. It’s the accountant’s V8:

I seriously doubt it.
The Macan owners I know haven't had a problem, and both often leave their cars in stations car parks as well as somewhat iffy parts of London on a regular basis.

So not jointly developed, but an Audi engined also used by Porsche.

Fair enough. It won't bother some people and it will others.

Indeed

Left mine at the station and airport just about every working day I had it and not a single spot of bother.

It’s an amazing car the Macan. A to B it is staggeringly competent and rapid. Obviously like all SUVs it’s only bought on tick by gangsters and used by their slag, orange tarts to ferry illegitimate future drug dealers and hookers to their day care facilities and at the first corner everyone is going to die. But if you’re not some Wetherspoon’s punter who thinks upgrading to AllBarOne somehow makes them a superior human then there isn’t much to complain about with this wagon. They even have a very historically unPorsche interior that’s a nice place to be and really the only gripe from a PH loon is that it’s a 90 degree V6 which is the accountants choice as opposed to what a deranged engineer would opt to use.

The design of this new 2.9 V6 was a joint Audi/Porsche engineering design from the outset, and is exclusive to both badges, it not being used elsewhere within VAG.
So, its not just a re-fettled Audi engine, nor is the Audi version a re-fettled Porsche engine etc.
It's still a less interesting version of that found in an Audi A4. Ahhm oot!
The Audi RS4 is certainly not just "an A4". Everything that is involved in the dynamics of the car are so far different it's not worth comparing. The suspension, brakes etc are largely the same across the A4 range, in general, from your lower diesel to higher petrol cars. The stuff in the RS4 is nothing like the others.

Sure but the SUV will also have the ground clearance which can be the limiting factor too as highlighted by others, not to mention the capacity for skis, kids, luggage etc. They're brilliant for family use basically.

Apart from being competitive at Le Mans this is why the design has so dominantly replaced large saloons and estates. It does the same job but with lots of added, generally minor, conveniences that all add up to make them very practical allrounders.

Or £50k for something with

more interior space in similar overall package
also 4wd
440bhp
also pano roof, nice flat screen and gadgets
faster performance
similar residuals
and far lower running costs

but to be fair you couldnt take it off road (albeit I doubt many macan turbos do either)

Tesla Model 3 Performance....

You forgot;

significantly reduced build quality

Inability to deliver the similar performance consistently

And quite likely less engaging to drive as a result of being a one trick pony

I like the Macan - I think its quite a good looking thing, certainly better than it's big brother. I'd rather a Macan than a Q5 etc.

Am I the only person who thinks the Model 3’s dash is wrist-slashingly bleak?

There’s also anecdotal evidence that Tesla’s software, in pursuit of headline-grabbing 0-60s and range between recharges, is placing too much burden on the batteries. So much so, owners of cars over 2.5 years old are waking up to find that an overnight software update has mysteriously reduced their Tesla’s range by 30 miles, or more.

Tesla - a car for 2-year leasing not keeping.

No, you're not.

I think they're awful inside - the single screen isn't for me not even having a small speedo etc direct in the eye line is taking it too far for me. The seats are too soft and the vegan leather feels really naff / cheap.

I’ve had my Turbo for just over a month, the negatives are:

1. It’s early days but it doesn’t feel as driver focused as my previous GTS. Which is understandable, but still a bit disappointing.
2.The new PSCB that come as standard on the Turbo are a bit grabby for a daily. I’d much prefer ordinary steels.

I’ve only just done the 1.8k run in miles, so haven’t really given it a proper work out yet. But it’s clearly capable in a straight line, as all Porsche Turbo variants are. I’m just not sure it’ll be quite as nimble in the corners as the GTS.

It’s still a very capable machine and I’m being ultra critical here, as I love the Macan. I’m just not sure I’ll love this one as much as I did the GTS. We’ll see.
