The suspension components have been created by FEA Topology Optimization. This basically consists of starting with a computer model of a chunk of material, applying restraints on it in the places they occur, then apply all the know loads on the places they occur. This could be many separate load cases The program will then repeatedly 'load the model', removing areas with low-stress regions, and keep this up until it converges on a solution. I have used this, it works, but use WITH CAUTION. It's capable of producing a structure that will take, theoretically, all the designed loads, but still not be OK for actual use. Out of interest, where does it fall down? I assume it's the number of load cases you can provide and material differences?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYhOhYffyNo

3D printing of hollow section shapes is really interesting tech, and I think it'll definitely be the future once the costs start coming down.

It appeared on Jay Leno's Garage in 2015 as the Divergent Blade, looking almost identical to this 2020 21C under the skin - albeit with a different engine - so what has Mr Czinger been doing for the past 5 years?
Making it legal? Seems pretty well developed as the 21C compared to the Blade which looked like a moving concept carGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
