Sweet Sixteen for the barge thread!

There is already so much pent-up buying potential I think we could see a gold-rush once lockdown ends.

Max - your E39 looks absolutely spot-on. The design looks so fresh and properly cleaned like that reminds me how desirable they are. Concur that a 530/540 estate would be hard to beat.

It’s a fine looking thing, an impending Labrador purchase has me researching estate candidates to replace the capable but dull 420d Grancoupe. Not because I don’t thing she’ll fit in the 420, just because of this thread...

That e39 looks extremely smart. They are such well proportioned cars.

Apologies if this is in fact a dreadful old heap, my Merc beard is non existent, but I found it interesting...

It's an interesting car. All UK-spec 560s, be they SELs or SECs, came with the high output ECE engine. It is rated at 300bhp and 339lb/ft torque and moves the surprisingly light w126 with impressive vigour. However, very few came with the hydro-pneumatic suspension option. It looks like it is a genuine "every possible option" car, having orthopaedic seats and engine under shield as well. It appears to be lacking the air filter assembly. The bodywork requirements would put me off at that price. Also those wheels would have to go.

Checking in. Can I self indulge with a seen before pic of my E39?

I've got a few bits to fit this weekend including rear discs, pads, shoes and front/rear ARB links and bushes. Last weekend was front suspension arms! I'm liking the car a lot more since I've spent some time working on it for some reason. Hoping it drives well after!

An air of class not found in BMW's newer offerings. Looks superb.

Nice summary and an interesting insight. What extent of bodywork would need to be undertaken, in your view and at what cost?

Personally, I forgive the alloys as they give it a certain levity; like a cool older chap that wears some smart trainers with some smart casual gear.

Gave the E class, a scrub the another day to remove the years of non washing from the previous owners. Lots of algae, around the trims. Not bad for a 1k car.
That looks the business.
And how did you get the petrol V6 for a grand...!?

Surely no way this is under £5k if it’s a genuine, working Audi Essex?

A good performance last thread. The posting rate was better than any since volume 4.

To me, it shows a redhead with mouth open, accepting of the teabagging that she is about to receive.

It's not an armrest it's storage box under the armrest which to me doesn't look as good as the roll top ones
