Thread seems to be designed for me today, being a 2006 e61 530i (n52 engine) owner and I'm looking for an XJ to go with it.

Love the one above except for the colour, which doesn't suit that era of the car at all, to my eyes. At half the price of the one I was looking at (but 30k more) I'm tempted.

Ideally need to sell my Fiesta ST first though, as trade in values certainly haven't gone up in line with sale prices...

‘kin hell Woody! Straight in on the new volume with a 605!!

Remember having a seat in one whilst waiting on our 106 serviced at the dealer. I’d love to know how many they actually sold in the days before cheap finance and lease deals...

In a surprising turn of events the chap came back to me with an agreeable offer and I have as of Saturday sold the 190e!

I should stop dedicating my user name to my car.

Wow, that's great! What was the final offer? Now....who's getting the next phone call, the XJ, E38 or W140?!

Nicely done. If you act quickly you'll get first purchase of the new volume.

Playing thread catch-up - Volvo seats are amazing - one of the reasons we bought another XC90 - driving across europe and even after 19 hours I felt ok.

Like that 6 series, but don't think a manual suits it very well. Less bork risk, I guess, but it just seems wrong.

Needs a bit of love, but it'd make a fabulous car.

Love the look of this. And contrary to received wisdom (is that even a phrase!?), I think it has to be a manual to get away with being the 6 cylinder car.

Anyone fancy a Type V Accord with sensible miles for thread min?

Fond memories of these. My best pal bought one of these circa 1995, a manual SV 24v no less. It was no more than 5 years old and he paid around £4K from memory: it had absolutely tanked in value. It also went like the clappers: just as fast as the new fangled Impreza Turbo I had just bought. A mutual pal was quite the swordsman and we were all still kids living at home, so he used to borrow it to shag that particular week’s conquest in, but I digress. It was sold when a brake disc sheared at speed and confidence was lost it it, and our other pal went and bought a £200 Toyota Carina as it had reclining front and rear seats.

The autobox runs really well in these IMO.

Suits the car, a proper long distance GT car wink

Well personally, I'd get a V8. Which would then be an auto.
I think a *30i is a waste of time in a car like the 6er, which really has got to be considered a GT.
But as thread is so against the V8, if I had to have a 6 cylinder, i'd try and get a manual.

I struggle to get comfortable in my 2000 Honda Accord as the steering wheel does not adjust for reach and the seats are not great. I tried to source some Type-R Recaros, but I couldn't justify spending almost as much as I paid for the car!

Why do you think it's a waste?

The engine is more than capable of getting the car to license losing speeds in no time at all and with it being that bit lighter; it makes for the handling of the car to be better IMO

All personal preference I know, but I don't agree the engines a waste; it works really well and it is, slightly, less troublesome than the V8 in these. Cheaper to fix and maintain too
