Although saying that, I've a policy for a modified classic with just about every mod you care to name and it's about £170 a year (garaged, limited mileage, full comp). It's not a road legal GT3 car though unfortunately...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that new Evo kit is the 'SF-90'-style front end and looks VERY good for it!

Pretty sure that with all the monty you save, you could pop that along to Lanzante and have them make it road legal if you really insisted on being able to drive it on the road to your trackday.

I know that the ludicrously expensive track toy is more about the networking opportunities for those who buy them, but with a budget in the high six figures I’d definitely buy a few formula cars, rent a track and some support staff, and invite some friends round for fun.

Very much this. I love the GTR but probably would not buy this if I had the money. A trip to Litchfields with a standard car and a pocket full of cash for mods would do me.

Yeah, I was just thinking the same. Nearly all performance cars nowadays are too fast to be fully enjoyed on the road, some are even too loud to be allowed on track which must be incredibly frustrating. But that's not the point is it, we are mostly a bunch of lunatic petrolheads who don't really conform to sensible and that's who this car is aimed at. How many people are more interested in what's under the skin than what's on the badge in a car these days? For me any road car built by championship winning race team will always be a very special thing, sign me up.

Some do and the advantage of it being road registered is insurance - you can drive it in the road car group on road tyres with valid insurance if you crash. I wouldn’t mind giving up some ultimate tyre performance in exchange for a financial safety blanket from time to time - for example when it is cold or wet. And if I want to run slicks, I can always trailer the car just like a race car.
Having said all that, while I do like this, at the new price you really have to like GTRs. I would probably just buy a Senna or buy a 458 GT3 or a Broadley T76 and live with it being not road legal plus a few road cars for the same money

I hardly laughed at it, but I'm not the one who felt the need to comment. What were you hoping to achieve? Educate the poster regarding their lack of 'sophistication'? Prevent them from ever daring to try and make a funny comment ever again? Or where you just being a dick for no reason?

Is that strictly true though? It had a carbon cam cover which lowered the engines centre of gravity but I've not personally seen anything that has suggested the engine itself was repositioned.
