Not too sure what to make of it. It looks a bit over styled to me. Interior looks like a big improvement, but I think I'll stick with my 2020 M240i Coupe for the moment . . . . . .

It might be a grower or one that looks better in the flesh - it definitely stands a chance of either better than the rest of the current BMW designs.

But it has a look of a BMW M2 from 99p for 4 HotWheels size cars you can buy, where they look just not enough to like a particular to breach licensing rules.

Sorry BMW but regarding latest new car reveals lotus has just p1ssed on your chips
I'm sorry, I don't see the relevance of the Lotus in this situation? Are you suggesting the Lotus is realistically going to take any meaningful sales numbers away from this car? If so, have a rofl

I can't stop the back of it reminding me of this. And I can't bestow it with less praise than that.

That back end is a bit special. Looks like it's melted.

To my eyes, all current BMW's seem to suffer the same problem which is the relationship between rear wheel and rear quarter.

The rear wheel looks lost, and the rear quarter seems oversized, giving the cars an awkward, under-wheeled and under-tracked appearance.

What he means is, two cars launched on the same day, one gets headline status, the BMW is relegated to the "in other news" section....

They ruined the last pure BMW model. Now its as big as a 4 series and fat. AWD and automatic only on the M240i ensures zero driving engagement. Looks fugly as well.

Odd but I don’t hate it, front has some muscle car vibes, side is ok, rear not so great.

As per a few other comments not sure why bmw have copied Audi’s gaudy metal highlights for the “1 down from main event” models for wing mirrors and various other trim bits, looks proper tacky.

All in a dont know what to make of this car, is it an admission the 2 gc is just an epic fail? Are they going to destroy the looks for the full fat m version with the beaver face? The 2 series has to be the most fragmented model range out there.

Fussy and I tad ugly.
I’ll be very surprised if they tool up for even wider arches for
A true //M variant, the rear arches look pretty wide already.

Bmw styling is a complete mess these days
(Said as a life long fan)

The Golf R estate I’ve just been looking at is fair
Better.

Big, fat, ugly, EPAS, 4wd, auto box.

Though plenty of people like that sort of thing.

1765 kg EU weight. What a joke
That's heavy indeed when an original M2 is 1495 kg EU. But then again it's 4wd and auto which accouns for 100kg I assume.

Where did you find the info about EU weight?

I still think it looks great despite the rear.

It's on the BMW website for the M240i Nick.

That rear end is one of the worst looking things I've ever seen. If that design was in the back of an old Kia or Daewoo people would quite rightly say its a brutally ugly car.

BMW are horrific looking cars nowadays.
100% The back end is an unmitigated disaster. Think back to the Bangle years and the criticism levelled at the E60, 6-series and E87 1-series. Those cars look almost regal next to this.

Cheers Leon. Will have a gander. This is good news for current M2 residuals I guess, selfishly. I guess the new M2 won't be much lighter even as a RWD manual, if they even build it.

That looks awful, very heavy looking

BMW seem to have really lost the plot styling wise at the moment
