Yep that's the badger - I'll update the original post thanks - interestingly that thread was 140 pages (on 80 posts per page settings) Presumably before going over 125 pages broke PH
Going over 10,000 posts was still the thread limit back then. I guess the mods didn’t notice the thread post count for a while.

Wonder if my Daimler will be the first purchase for the new thread? I paid the chap for it yesterday, unseen. But he is a Captain, so its all good!

Already planning mods for it already... 2nd to last Daimler sold in the UK aparently.

Is it a double six? They not only have the correct number of cylinders for an XJ they also have proper Autolux leather too.

A V12 X305 remains my favorite car I've ever owned.

Kicking off my first contribution with - V70 stereo. Dead.

As you were, folks... biggrin
Is this stereo one of those molded into the dash ones that cannot be replaced with aftermarket without looking like a plastic carbuncle in the dash??

You have my sympathy if that is the case.
Thats it - you also lose the cupholder with any fascia kit.

Well I wake up and not only have a missed a chance at pussy jokes (I never realised cats were expensive until I bought Mrs 316 a ragdoll) but we're in a new volume, I want that powder blue Bentley just to experience splinters from the dashboard I mean it looks like a 12yr olds woodworking project, alec.e I hope the first thread purchase forecourt shot is your Daimler and that it is the v12

Call me a radical upstart, but how about we use this new iteration of the thread to focus on, say, cars which are a bit bargey, and which are being advertised for over a grand but no more than 5 grand?

Hmm? Just a thought. Maybe we could bend the rules on a Friday, which does appear to only represent around 24 of the 168 hours in a week?

Or I could just getmecoat?

Yes, Yes, I know I talked about bikes last time, I won't do it again!
I could go with that, but I could also go with it remaining the same eclectic mix it is currently.

To me, this thread is like a good local boozer, there’s always something going on, there’s a broad mix of everything, but it never feels unwelcoming, and can feel like a home from home. A pleasant place to talk st spend a few hours on things we enjoy. There’s the regulars, the infequent posters & the lurkers, we’re refreshingly free from the transient yobbos too. We’re not as random as some of the Lounge threads, being (mostly) car related, but we’re also on the whole, self-policing. (Well, until we attract Scrump’s attention anyway). wink

I think this thread is ever evolving, the title may be the same, the cars & personalities change along the way. I don’t mind it being stricter, I don’t mind it being more closely regulated - what I’d not want to see is the loss of the cameraderie, & comedy, along the way.

For avoidance of doubt, I’m the sad git stood at the bar with a coke/orange juice - I don’t drink (anymore), but I still love a good pub

I would 100% agree with all of that, and on reflection yes, you're right about the "local boozer" thing; in fact I thought something similar that to myself recently. I'm happy to retract my previous comment and go with the flow, it was just that it used to be fun seeing what could be bought for relatively little money but that has become just one small element of the chat of late.

I am guilty of having been grumpy(er than usual) for the past few days. I had a slightly unpleasant accident on Monday which required medical intervention and has left me lacking in sleep, not to mention rendering me confined to the sofa somewhat, instead of being my usual active busy self. That's my excuse anyway!

Anyway I'll shut up now and let normal service resume! biggrin

Hope you are better soon CAPP0 nothing worse than not being able to get on with life as usual, On the car side of it I think a lot of us are in shock at the price of stuff that 18 mths ago would have struggled to make thread minimum is now at thread max

+1 to that CAPP0 - I always meant to ask - I saw your retirement thread on the Jobs section and it was the exact same time one of my bosses went. Your initials aren’t CB are they? Not a stalker, honest…

Oh, and since I’m doing all the ‘nice’ stuff -

@Emeye, with you posting the red R129 the other day, I’m not far from you (Rochdale), so if you want a go/look in SL1, etc, you’re more than welcome to, just let me know… (mini meet!)

@Alec.E, congratulations & all that, I’m guessing the modifcations you have planned will be more of your OEM++ standard like you’ve done before with the previous cars? With the R8 covering the monster-fast part, will the Daimler mods be around serenity & comfort? Be interesting to see certainly!

Thanks chaps, and apologies again for my temporary insanity biggrin I'm very aware that if I describe the full details of the incident here, I'll be guilty of being a complete hypocrite as well as being a grumpy git!! It was actually car related, but not an RTA.

@Prinny, not, not me! I sometimes talk to car people (in real life! Imagine!) and wonder whether they are on here, but rarely ask!

Actually just on the 1st page still - when you get to 5 I'll see page 2

Click "My Preferences"

Bottom of the page is a selectable option to change the number of posts per page from 5, 10, 20, 40 or 80

Default is 20

I was still on page 1, but didn't want to loose the thread from my stuff so made comment.
Only to see a little later that pushing bookmark would be just as effective. banghead
Nobody ever claimed I was intelligent though as I did buy the first FFRR I viewed shouted to all that would listen how reliable it's been the first 2 or so years of ownership then spent the best part of £2000 on it in the last couple of months.whistle

Still it's only money at least I'll have new front suspension brake pipes and hopefully next week shiney new body work .

Estimate well within thread, one MOT fail since 2006, the vast majority being clean with zero advisories and its freaking powder blue...
Interesting combo of car and colour (if original?) You don't find many landlords of flat-roofed pubs who were, to use the vernacular of the day, perhaps light on their toes.

It should be for all of us - yes?

There is a small downside if you do run it at 80 posts per page you will find the occasional thread that has a st load of pictures and then it can be a while before the images load (KelvinatorNZ threads are great but probably the worst for it)
