Maybe not, but when you look at the finance offer. A base Porsche Cayman isn't hugely more. Or at least it wasn't, but I can't seem to find the online offers and finance calculator on the Porsche website now....
on Carwow a base 2 litre 718 Cayman is showing as £5k down and £559 a month for 4 years with 8k miles PA.

That is hugely more.

Brilliant. A not-lardy, RWD, NA, manual coupe, and still there's plenty of moaning from people who wouldn't have bought it if it was half the price, double the power, and came with a free kitten/puppy/cake.

Can’t find it now. But Porsche did have offers on their site 6-8 weeks back.

Think it was £9.5k down and £400/month over 3 years.

Clearly not as good/more money. But on a month to month basis not all that different IMO.

Nice, no laggy turbo's or autos.

I hope they offer them in a fun bright colour like yellow to suit a fun car.

Excellent. Have lots of warm, fuzzy feelings for Toyota at the mo. And its cars don’t fall apart after 3yrs / 60k.

The Everyday Driver guys pretty much said it was everything good about the GT86 with all the bad taken out. And then bought one!

And servicing/running costs between the 2?

There's no sense of occasion with the Yaris. I was a massive fan when I first read about it, but I'm not sure there's a more anonymous way to spend money on a hot hatch. You hear a bog standard mini coming long before the GR too... And sure, we all like to pretend that it's 100% about the driving experience, but it's really not. Never mind that you can have as much fun in a Fiesta ST for 10 grand less.

Anyways, I think the 86 is priced amazingly and is surely one of the few cars you'd actually buy new. The Yaris will make sense when it's 20 grand.

I loved the GT86 and BRZ at launch and have the same fizzy feeling about the GR86. I feel it's everything I want from my daily driver and then some.

However I have owned my S2000 for 7 years and ran it as a second car for the summer only months but with a little one it's getting less and less use with the boring daily diesel doing the legwork the majority of the time. This new GR86 could be exactly what I want for my daily as we go forwards into a world of boring numb electric cars. But could I bring myself to sell the S2k? Who knows... I will opt for a test drive.

If and when. I suspect it will be a while yet, those that do reach £20k any time soon will be high mileage, mines 16months old over 12,000miles and WBAC still offering £30k no doubt I’d get higher if I shopped around.

But yes the £30k for this does seem like good value for money for what is offered.

I'm really excited about this, and I'm wondering if I should swap my 370Z for one. It feels like one of the last opportunities to buy a RWD car with a NA engine and a LSD.

I'd personally want a touch more power/performance, but I do really like how these are relatively light(especially in comparison to the 370).

Exciting times ahead for whoever buys them I reckon. driving

I am thinking about getting one - thought the GR Yaris was seriously dull but this looks like a cracker.

Worth noting that the peak torque of the GR86 is around the same, and at a similar rpm to of what your average 2.5 V6 was making ~20 years ago! E.g. Alfa 156 V6, X-type V6 etc. These were actually regarded as high torque engines for the time smile

I have a ND1 and weighing up whether to keep or PX/sell, I really would like to have both, the MX5 is a 2nd car currently so the 86 would have to become a daily.

2nd hand values are strong right now and this new GR86 looks like very good value.. Win-Win! smile
