I'm not averse to JLR making some money. After all, that's what they are in business for. And I get that good workmanship should be paid for. But this sideline of official, highly expensive, unimaginative reimaginations is getting a bit boring!

I saw a few Grenadiers at Grimsby yesterday - I'd estimate about 100. Much rather have one of those! Yep, I know, this is something very different.

Looks like a bit of fun. Will be a hoot with that engine.

I wonder if they're sourcing the donors from Twisted's supply as the last I heard they still had quite a few remaining?

The only issue I have with Defenders when trimmed up is that there just isn't much that can be done to the dash so regardless of how much is done elsewhere in the cabin the bit that you look at all then time remains super budget.

Makes my purchase of the Heritage edition 90 in 2015 seem like a fantastic investment! If you can afford it then why not I suppose but at 1/4 million quid it's serious cash! Surely helps my resale value mind you!

Thanks, I have placed my interest. Will look to PX my Works V8.

Wonder if anyone else in the thread has actually visited the factory and seen how they're built, or the actual R&D process? Genuinely curious.

Should be called the Daylesford Edition.

I’m absolutely all for hoovering up the money from people who just want to give it away. In fact I wish more manufacturers were at it.

It may ever so slightly devalue the originals, but you can’t ever really supplant them, and there will always be the more discerning who’ll want that.

As you probably gathered, I perceive this to be one of the best jokes ever.
Reminds me of the lyrics to ‘The Kings New Clothes’;
“Isn’t it oooh, isn’t is aaah, it’s the it ab-solutley,,,,,” ste.
Talk about lifting your leg and slipping you a crippler!
I’m betting there’s dozens of PHers that could build the same thing for less than half of this amount, and make just as good a job of it.

R&D process? It’s 2023 not 1953. R&D on the landrover series is well and truly over. If JLR are trying to claim R&D tax credits on this model, they are in for a nasty shock from HMRC.

In other news, the Dutch Army are selling off lightweight/air portable Land Rovers kept in storage for decades, eg via Witham SV. I know which I'd go for...

Couldn't be much less interested in the idea of spending nearly a quarter of a million on that, but mmm Kilchoman.

That's it, really. I only read the article to see if the Islay name came from someone mis-reading IIa.

Not my thing as I think old Defenders are hateful things to drive.

However I love the way it looks & like the attention to detail.

Bonkers money but that’s the market.

Good for JLR for having the smarts to cash in.

As an aside I have a mate with a Defender Nintey (blown engine) and a 4.2 Supercharged L322 (multiple electric faults & rot) sat in his yard.

May knock up an ‘Exmoor’ edition.
