Remember when JLR had that aggressive EV strategy? They've given up, haven't they.
What makes you say that? Just because they announce a new halo model with a V8....

All new Jag's are going to be 100% electric
The new smaller Land Rover platform is 100% electric
There's a 100% electric full size Range Rover coming out soon

That looks like commitment to EV's to me!
I'm not seeing much sign of ANY Jags, electric or otherwise. Which is disappointing

LR certainly appear to have - J are supposed to be EV only aren't they ? That, or sold/liquidated/closed-down* place bets on most likely

Back on topic - I hope they give the exhaust note of this more attention than in the new RRS SV.

The one my friend has just got looks lovely, but compared to my F-Pace SVR V8's rumble sounds decidedly anodyne.

Jeez thats pretty poor looking IMO. Just like the back of a van, all slab like. Even the exhausts look like they weren't factored into the design. There used to be some bit of the design to them.

I’m a bit annoyed we purchased a 90 v8 for my wife and I was told it was the ultimate defender but now they bring out this octa so my defender resale value plummets. My wife will undoubtedly want the upgrade and I’ll be out £50k!

Apparently all sold already, but that could just be the standard JLR bullpoop sales talk.

Will they improve on the buidl qaulity?
Will they improve on the reliability?
Will they offer much better security?
Will they be impossible to insure?

Lets hope so

You hope they’ll be impossible to insure?

(By the way. The main security issues are not affecting new RRs and LRs. It’s the previous gen stuff which is badly affected)

I read something quite worrying (not just for JLR) in that respect the other day…

Given we're 1/3 through 2024 i'm still not optimistic.
Where are the teaser images, the "hey, we're still in business" concepts. And one render of the arse-end of "car" dated 9 months ago doesnt count!
Where's the marketing?

Will people ever stop trotting out the same clichés?
Will people ever stop adorning their sarcastic posts with typos?
Will people ever stop perpetually moaning?

Lets hope so

I assume you have absolutely no appreciation for the gestation period of a new car? It's around 2-3 years to design and engineer and another 2 to develop. I wouldn't expect to see representative prototypes driving around until at most 1-1.5 years prior to release and marketing/reveal is usually 3-6 months prior to production.

Given 2025 could indeed mean 'end of the year' I would imagine we won't see anything driving around that resembles the new car until June this year at the earliest and that's totally normal/to be expected for any new car.
