Was that one real? Could it have been a mock up or concept? I do remember it and it featured in various Playstation games in the late 90's.

I also remember the beastly Scania sponsored one that competed in British GT racing years ago alongside a bright green Cerbra. Anyone else remember that?

got offered this about 6 months back, i dont think it has ever been off the market. lots of exciting talk/torque about it but really when would and could you use it in reality. it would cost a bomb to run and is unuseable on the road for more than a short drive.

love it to bits though.

Whoever did that deserves to die slowly and painfully.

If it was not for having to heat the oil for half an hour prior to starting it up, it may not be so bad. It's in quite a light state of tune so the engine should be relatively reliable I'd think.

A remortgage on the house is tempting.

that's what puts me off this one...the original Speed 12 concept was probably the single most arresting vehicular sight I have EVER seen. I tried to buy one at the motorshow....but no dice! This version looks like a cerbera on a GRP hovercraft cushion....and the performance isn't all that for what is a one-off car which ahs had millions spent on it.....

think I have some photos of the oroginal concept somewhere....will find and post if anyone gives a monkeys?

laugh I will give a monkey's! Actually, I remember seeing the first pictures of the 'production' version (thread car) and thinking how kit-car it looked, all massive wheel arch gaps and poorly chosen wheels, in comparison with the purple 'concept' version.

I remember watching the purple one racing at silverstone in BGT, Mike Jordan and Mike Caine where sharing the driving from memory. It was in the lead for quite some time until Jordan spun it at the first corner racing JCW in the Lister Storm, i think a Saleen ending up winnning that race from the pits with the S12 coming in 2nd!! Man you dont get cars like that in BGT anymore!!

Millions? Really? Do you have any idea how much it cost to develop?

December 2006, it sold for £155,200.00.
27 May 2007, it sold for £110,000.

That is some serious depreciation. 45k in just 6 months. going by a straight line depreciation method, that car will be free in a few more months. Hell, they may even need to pay someone to take it away...

IIRC Pete Wheeler decided that the car was just too mental for sale to the general public, after driving it on the roads himself.

Read a write up of a track test of it somewhere a few years ago, and it was said to be borderline undriveable
