I think my rating must be 0 because I have no idea wtf this is all about! sillyfrown
It seems to be so that other people can look at your profile to see what you think about forum topics.

Is the idea to get us to post less, and just vote instead? hehe
We've added the ability to rate the cars in some of our news stories (not forum posts) and once you have voted you can see the average vote that car has been given.

We've also added a page to each persons profile which allows you to see what votes they have made.

So in order to view my ratings, I have to use the search members function to lookup myself? That's the only way I can see what I've rated. Most bizarre.
Click your login name next to one of your posts, or at the top right of each page on the "Big Blue" skin and you can jump straight to your profile that way.
Fair enough. Thought though that it would be preferable to see it under the 'my stuff' page.

It would more sense If you could click a link in the topic to see who has voted for it rather than having to check individual profiles to see what they have voted for, no?
This is on the cards for the next version, along with a leaderboard page which shows all the cars in order of the rating they have received.

It isn't on the "My Stuff" page because it is visible to other people, not just you. I will add a direct link to your profile to the PH Classic skin in the next update to make it a bit easier to get to.

Is it just me who doesn't understand anything on this thread?

It alleges I've voted 5 on this story and I haven't. Is this an Afghan application?

Can you see either this:

Or this:

at the bottom of the news piece on page one of this thread?

No idea as I can't see whatever you've posted. Work blocks most pics from most external photo sites. I can see two dials, a small one and a large one. the large one has a needle which moves ashowing an average score of 6.14 and an ascending number of votes on the odometer but clicking on either has no effect.

It voted 5 for me for something as well without giving me the chance to vote.

I vote 1.29 for the introduction of this new technology, rounded up to 5 no doubt by you guys smile

That is how the results are displayed, did you ever see a horizontal slider with a "Rate It" button underneath?

I've noticed this too. It made me vote 5 for some Malaysian car, all I did was have a quick look at the article.

You've rated topics on the news stories before without a problem. What was different when you viewed it through the forums? Did it just go straight to the result page rather than showing the voting mechanism?

Did you look at it in the forums or via the homepage?

Yep, that works and I've arbitrarily rated it to test it and found it in good working order.

Now what are we rating - credibility, desirability, relevance.... wink

Thanks for your help, it's proving a very tricky one to get to the bottom of.

Does it work via the forums as well: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... ?

Link-clicking is blocked by work software but I've just been on the RR Mini thread and it works fine there too. It was just the PH Meter article by the look of it.
