That will be some location.

I remember reading about the flats, they have sold the biggest penthouse for around £100 million I think.
Allegedly £140 million each. Three of the four penthouses were sold to the Qatari PM. Still, could be worse, could be the Chelsea Barracks (the Candy brother's development that is currently on hold thanks to intervention from Brian).

As for the McLaren showroom, is it going to be a car dealership or a tourist attraction?
Although this may irritate previous posters with views mildly off topic from where to buy a McLaren, in fact the foreign minister of Qatar (government are owners of the project) sold a penthouse to himself to establish the wopping ante for the 3 other purchasers (2 x English, 1 from Croatia, I gather) This penthouse that has ranged in price for £5.0m to £140m (no one outside the inner circle is sure and does it matter ?) is actually a 3 storey house on top of a not very tall tower block.
Out back, views over the Park. Out front, views over Harrods (now owned by the same royal family)and lot of roofs. And a lot of planes pass overhead enroute to Heathrow.
I'm sure all this info will find its way into Trivial Pursuits.
Good place for a showroom ? - undoubtedly. David Brown used to park Astons in the front window of his offices in Piccadilly. Good place to sell cars - possibly.

I believe the numbers of who's bought what aren't quite right there

btw - you don't buy the flats or penthouses, you buy 99.5% share in an off shore business for certain reasons which I won't post on a public forum

If the car is already sold out, why waste your money on a high profile and expensive showroom?

Get one at Brands Hatch and have a deal to use the track a couple of times a day.....

Why do they need a showroom in London? I'd rather visit (...and pick up) the car at McLaren HQ...
Because they don't have a dealership there?

It's a factory, not a shop.

So the people who live above can just pop downstairs and buy one.

Similar to the way there is often a newsagent at the bottom of tower blocks.
And a Bargain Booze next door to a Cash Converters on every sink estate!!!

Can't think of many developments where the penthouse sells for 28 times the price of the cheapest flat in the very same building.

£5 million is starting to sound like a bit of an investment bargain, I must say!

Bear in mind, the penthouses will have room for staff quarters i.e. Bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms, etc

anyone been on the candy brothers website...
http://www.candyandcandy.com/#/welcome

they have more pictures of the building, im surprised they got the green light on this project as it doesnt fit in with the surrounding architecture.

still not sure how they became so rich to purchase 20 acres in London worth £9 billion!

The Candys are just the developer. Qatari Diar are the main financial backers if I remember correctly.

£5m buys you a 1 bed and these are quite small but are pretty much sold out. Prices go up to £20m for a 5 bed and these are huge at almost 10,000sqft.

3 penthouses are two floor plates (just under 20,000sqft) and penthouse C (the highest one) is almost 30,000sqft. The rumours for C vary between £140m and £160m, the others were circa £100m. C has 9 bedrooms plus staff quarters. A and D (D is nearest the Madarin) are sold, B is still available. All apartments include fit out for the price and the decor ranges from buffalo skin floors to ammonia smoked oak wall panels to diamonds set in the tiling grout in the his and hers bathrooms, off the master bedroom suites. The penthouse master bedroom suites have about the same area as a large home counties 5 bedroom house (both floors added together). There are several kitchens... owners, staff, children/nannies and catering kitchens. The data, lighting, sound and vision installations are the highest in the world. Walk down a corridor and the lights illuminate in front of you. Your tv programme or music can follow you around too. When the sun comes out, computer systems change the blinds to stop the rooms getting too hot. The walls and floors have state of the art sound proofing so you would not hear a party in the apartment above.

The purchase price is not the end of your expenditure... a parking space will set you back £300k but then it is one of the most high tech car parks ever built, with glass cars lifts to pavement level. There are parking spaces designed especially for your Maybach.

The tunnel to the Mandarin is because the Mandarin will provide house services. From laundry to room service meals, everything can be brought to your apartment.

Its quite some place.
