I stopped buying TopGear magazine a while ago.

Practical Classics is a better magazine.
That's a good read, always liked it. Colonial said:

It's also a total waste of trees. Almost as bad a buying a newspaper.
I do both. Deal with it.

I've never seen the forests that ended up becoming coal. I've never seen a dinosaur. I never saw Britain covered in ice. I really am not bothered
I suspect you've never seen a school either. You know that stuff your breathing? Ever wondered where it comes from?
ETA - on topic, yup I buy quite a few car magazines and I have to say Top Gear has never been one of them. I'm more of an Octane, Classic Cars and C&SC person myself and I think Evo does the "new" car scene a lot better than TG anyway.

The fact is that many natural and man made phenomena has occurred during the time our planet has existed, yet we are still here. If we lose trees there is a significant amount of oxygen mass lost, but we still have millions of plants capable of producing oxygen, and, if we became really desperate, we can electrolyse water and other substances that we have in abundance

How much is it now?
I'd rather not pay £5 to read some adverts, and a half-arsed car directory.
The problem for me is the price - I'm quite comfortably off but I'll be buggered if I'm spunking that kind of money on a bloody car mag which is at least 50% adverts. How much is it now?

I guzzle a shed load of fuel and consume like many on here. I'm no greenie. But I do draw the line at wasting paper for no reason. Forests are the lungs of the world after all. Oxygen matters.
Ah gotcha I thought you were some sort of Eco troll. Agree on wasting excess, I just thought you meant we should use no paperI gave up with TG about three years back now, when they changed the format they seemed to drop back about twenty years with their intended readership, ie 30 to 10!.
I've also recently cancelled my subscription to Auto Italia Evo and Octane too, though I've got another 5 Evo's to come. I've decided to pick and choose between the mags rather than stick to one or two religiously. On balance though I think Evo is the best of the modern car mags, Octane and C&SC about equal on classics and Motorsport news to catch up on Motorsport related stuff.
I'd hate to see a time when the internet took over from magazines, both have their place and there is still room for quality car related journalism, though it's become harder to find recently.

Sounds like you just wanted an excuse to buy a poncy iPad ...(You do realise that paper can be recycled, right?)

On my Christmas list I asked for a subscription to "Car" or Evo.
I GOT a subscription to Top Gear, "because the children can enjoy it too".
Next year I'll just ask for Fireman Sam toys to make matters easier for all concerned.
This made me LOL. I GOT a subscription to Top Gear, "because the children can enjoy it too".

I hope the kids got subscriptions to Playboy TV and a chainsaw, you know, so you can enjoy them too?

No, your children will deal with it. Rainforests 50 years ago covered 14% of the world's land surface. Now they only cover 5-7%. All tropical forests will be gone by the middle of the 21st century at this rate.
Doh. I suppose there is no chance for our children to plant
some new trees when we start getting a bit short ?
Extrapolation of scientific data can be a crutch for
some low quality journalism.

Whats the verdict on EVO? I personally love EVO and pretty much never buy TG....Its just a shame EVO does seem to focus heavily on very un-obtainable cars...(not that TG is any better)
I can't see much point in me reading reviews of base-model Astras and the like. For one thing I'm never likely to buy one, but, if I did want to, I could just pop along to the showroom and try a selection out. I could then drive it exactly as it was meant to be driven (i.e. sedately in traffic, well within the limits of adhesion), and know what it was all about. When I bought my RS4 I did find a place with a demonstrator, but learned relatively little about it in a test drive around South London. Something like Evo gives me some extra information. For me reading about quotidien cars would be like listening to music played exclusively on affordable instruments, or going to an art gallery to look at reasonably priced watercolours; close to pointless.
I do agree with the above, aspirational supercars are all well and good but there does need to be some more affordable metal in there as well to appeal to the 'common man'. In addition, I would like a few more epic road trips rather than the standard EVO triangle group tests - anyone rememeber the Ferrari 599 across China article?
Top Gear is a very poor relation in car magazine standards. Poor articles, poor format. Would not buy.
