OK so it's silver and comes in under budget at £4200...

You'd certainly get everyone where they want to be on time
On the down side, it's not got the same amount of space as the horse box above.

A bit different, but got picked up in a very high mileage one recently and felt pretty well screwed together Quite a few are used around here.

The Grand Espace looks the business. The only thing I have against it is the fact that I had a 2.2dci The Race model of circa 2002 vintage. It turned into a heinous money pit - cam belt snapped, EGR valve was a nightmare. Fuel economy was average at best.
Multipla is an interesting option, as is the X type - which needs to be a silver estate!
Evo is brilliant, but my local authority insists no older than 10 years - Euro 3 compliant.

Got taken to an airport in one of these once, felt new, no rattles, engine pulled well, I glanced at the milage and it had just gone over 200,000. Lots of room in the back too.
The driver was the owner of the taxi firm, said it was a great little car

Have no personal experience of either car above, but they're both big and diesel.

Espace is a def no. It's in Warrenpoint Norn Iron. Even if it was a perfectly straight car, it would cost £500+ to get it to Devon. Which is a shame because if it were closer I'd have a look.
Mazda 6 is a good call, but that car is the wrong colour and I'm always suspicious when there's no interior pics.
Chaps, for the last time, No Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra!! I'd rather have a smokey old Beemer 525d or a C220.
Anyone know this dealer? Or the car?
clicky

Fiat Multipla? The frog shaped one, don't come much more different than that.
I have no ideas about reliability etc, I only mention it as one of the local taxi drivers had one a few years back and loved it.
I ran one for a good few years, did 50k miles in it. in that time it needed a crank sensor and the lead to the starter motor needed a new connector as it broke. Also needed a front coil spring replacing but if i had known i could have had it replaced for free as there was recall.I have no ideas about reliability etc, I only mention it as one of the local taxi drivers had one a few years back and loved it.
mine was a 105jtd and it went pretty well, it was economical (average was in the 40s) and apart from a couple of niggly bits already mentioned it was reliable.
Right not a 7 seater and wrong colour and over budget HOWEVER...

I have the saloon variant of this albeit with 1 or 2 add ons and it is a fantastic piece of kit. Mine is about to hit 310k miles. Goes through a set of mich primacys front every 20-25k and rears every 30k - 35k or so. Disks and pads front every 25-30k pads and every 50-60k disks. Roughly 200 to 250 a set of both.
Rears are not relevant mine is still on originals and are only now due really.
Mine has broken down once in 5 yrs and 285k miles in my care and that was simply a sheared pulley for the alternator.
Very little ever goes wrong other than the rear arb and the wiper mech which is known to fail from time to time mine has gone once and cost around 50-80 quid to replace.
The above is why i recommend one simply as low cost high reliability is something of an importance to you i suspect. Mine also has electric lumbar support which i think was fairly standard. It is very comfy calm and quiet and does 650m ish per 65l tank.
It is presently overdue a service by around 10k miles if my sums are right (30k without a service) and around 5k over for cambelt. Still runs fine starts first time everytime.
Gets a new belt and pump this weekend as not willing to gamble any longer.

That'd do, surely? They also have a lower mileage estate for £1,500 more.
Personally though my favourite taxi is a Skoda Superb - because I know that I'll have plenty of legroom wherever I sit. That, and a quiet ride (so vans are out) are all I care about.

On my phone so can't check/post links, but could you get a Defender for that much? Or perhaps an E class (old, but some are 7 seats).
I love Pistonheads. When was the last time you got a taxi and were herded into the back of a landy, or for that matter the pygmy seats in the boot of an E-class?

Surprised noone has chimed in with Avantime yet, I thought they were PH's "big MX5" in popularity stakes. Also, where is 300 BHP/Ton suggesting a cadillac of some sort?
PH, you've lost it.
I suggested the Avantime It was just after suggesting the Vel Satis though...PH, you've lost it.
