What mpg is classed pricey???
Discussion
Firstly, its purely what you can afford.
To me, my V6 A3 must do atleast 30 and my missus's fiesta must do atleast 45.
However, when i win the lottery, 30 gallons to the mile will be acceptable.
and if i were to lose my job, driving would be far too expensive even if i got 1 000 000 mpg.
so, going full circle, its purely what you can afford.
can you afford 31mpg? simple really...

I`m in a E46 323i 2.5litre which gives me 31mpg should i sell up and get a corsa thingy or is 31mpg ok?
I've always thought above 30mpg on mixed driving is good, especially if it offers some performance as well. I've just got a car that does 21mpg mixed and I think 21mpg is a bit expensive and I'd have got a more economical car if I did more miles in it than I do <5000 a year. My Daily driver does 31mpg and I think thats great, especially when it offers performance in the 0 - 60mph in sub 6 seconds bracket.
You can easily have economical and fast, you just need to compromise on size and creature comforts.
Economical, fast, big and comfortable,.. don't think thats really possible.
To be honest it suprises me you get over 30mpg out of a 2.5 petrol BMW, do you do very little town / short journey's, more motoway stuff - I guess a 3 series isn't that big a car either.

I'm averaging 26mpg. One one hand this is pretty pricy, but on the other I'm enjoying driving it more than previous cars that used less fuel, so it's a reasonable trade-off for me. I'd definitely begrudge putting any amount of fuel into a car I hated, regardless of how economical it was.

Educate me....how does one 'use the zetec!'Edited by Bhuvsta on Tuesday 11th January 21:06
Zetec Yo!
Seriously though I think he means that there's almost no difference between 25mpg and 28-29mpg
I would kill to get 31 mpg !!
I've went from a quite thirsty 330 coupe to a ravenous Forester 2.5 turbo. I only live 11 miles from my work, which I go to on average 4 times a week. Maybe its the novelty factor of having a new car but I'm putting 50 quid in it a week
That's the price one has to pay in an attempt to out-accelerate everyone who has the sheer gall to sit beside me at traffic lights lol
I should grow up soon. I'm 50 in few months
