quick question for zollar, can you have a car and an astra van on a mutli car policy? the van is only used for private use not for work.
K22wes, unfortunately we don't insure vans of any sort ( we don't even have them in our list of cars), reason being that too many people would say they only use it for private but would actually use it for commercial use too, not saying you are but its easier to say no to everyone than try to work out the honest from the dis-honest.Admiral own Gladiator have you tried a quote with them?, I don't deal with gladiator policies so wouldn't be able to advise any further than they may be able to do something competative if your normal car is insured within the group too.

As per yester day (Ali) on my Facebook.
But to anyone else that i'm not a facebook chum with, I made some alterations to my policy yesterday :
- complete removal of interior
- Buckets
- Harnesses
- Rollcage
alongside existing intake modifications and Big brake upgrades.
base price for policy at 17 for my car is £1600 fully comp![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
the four alterations made above cost me all of ...................... SEVENTEEN pounds !
Highly Recommend for price and understanding for non "chav" teenagers.

I reckon we should get more of a discount Jack - the rate we plug Admiral.
My girls are dreading their renewals now after today's decision.![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
Todays EU decision won't affect policy prices until 21/12/12, so they have another year or two to build NCB which may offset any potential increase. My girls are dreading their renewals now after today's decision.

I got my multicar renewal through the other day. I've had two cars on it for about three years now. It had gone up quite a bit this time, but 5 minutes on a comparison website and armed with two quotes I rang the renewal line. They beat the best quote by £10 quid so renewed for another year. Saved over £100 for 5 mins on internet and a phone call. Might put the Mrs car on it this years as well. Never claimed yet so no idea what that's like.

We just got £40 off the renewal quote with Bell (an Admiral group company) by calling and querying the price. It made them there or thereabout the comparison sites quotes. My girls are dreading their renewals now after today's decision.

I have to say that despite all the wailing an gnashing of teeth about insurance, that was the only one of 4 I've renewed in the last few months that had changed price by more than a few pounds. It was the most disappointing too, as daughter is now 25 and has another years NCB so I was hoping it might go down. An increase from £380 to £450 wasn't very nice.

Thought I'd resurrect this rather than start a new one...
Currently have a trade policy as do some diagnostic work here and there and some other bits and bobs. Thinking of knocking this on the head so wondered how much a multi-car policy would be for the current fleet. So I tap the details into Admiral (after reading some differing opinions). Current fleet is a Megane 225 RS Cup (modifications declared), Saab 95 Aero HOT (Group 44!), Mk1 Mazda MX5 (mods declared) and Mk4 Golf GTI (bog standard for the missus). I stuck my 10 years NCB on the Megane and then my partners 2 years on the Golf as it's her daily car. Ok, mileage is relatively low on all of them and they are all 'cheap' cars (Megane most expensive at £3.5k). I was still surprised when the quote came through at £930? I'm 38, missus 35 and live in low-medium risk area in Essex.
I was a bit confused about the NCB distribution so I rung them up and the lady asked which car the 10 years NCB was from. This is where I explained the complication that all cars are currently on a trade policy and the 10 years NCB is actually from a separate private policy that used to be on my recently sold Skyline GTR. She then asks about the trade policy and I explain that it's no claims in 5 years and has 5 years NCB on it. Due to my unblemished record she then sticks 5 years NCB on both the MX5 and the Golf which brings the premium down to £812????
Is the catch that it rockets up to £2k come renewal time? I haven't put all the cars individually through a quote system but can't believe that insuring all 4 separately (using 10, 5, 2 and 0 NCB) that I can get it for less then £800?
Anyone in the know advise if this sounds about right? (breakdown given over the phone was £181 for Megane, £263 for Saab, £178 for Mazda and £185 for Golf)
