when you get your cars dyno'd, what gear do they use? I have visions of sweeping transmissions up of the floor when put under full load in first gear.
Whatever's closest to 1:1 ratio I believe, usually 4th.

Standard Chim '95 4.0

I've just had some induction and ignition work completed so hope to get it on the rollers again soon to see what difference it has made besides feeling smoother and more responsive to drive.

use one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Windscreen-Mount-Holder-...

If you don't have a screen I can't see why you couldn't DIY it to attach to the dash instead.
Just wondered, is the phone sturdy enough in that holder? Does the plastic arm have much flex in it, affecting readings? I only ask because I've been thinking about getting one to use with Dynolicious.

On the Escort Cosworth: how on earth did they manage to drive that to the dyno in the first place? It doesn't look the most driveable car in the world.
True to say, it wouldn't be everyones cuppa, but it's not half as bad as people assume....... on the twisty's you have to keep yourself busy on the stick to keep it in the zone and it's fine though if you happen across a junction you've two options for pulling away......... slowly or a launch rotate

At one time i had a six speed dog box on it with 6th gear being the 1:1 ratio which is to say equivalent to the standard 4th gear so as you can imagine the cogs were very tightly spaced which made it easy to keep on boost and the clutchless upchanges were fun.............. but sadly in the end, the engine ate the box rolleyes
It's now on a slightly less clonky straight cut synchro box with marginally closer than standard ratio's and i've a roller bearing core for the turbo in the pipeline........ these together will eliminate any in gear lag as i go up through the gears when on a charge smile I'm also told that the new core will help the feel of the car below it's boost threshold aswell........ currently it starts to stir at 3.5k and is fully awake at 4k smile

I've had a few serious motorbikes try to leave me in their wake............ only to get a double take when they check their mirrors and see i'm still with them laugh

I've been meaning to do it for a while wink

I'll be fitting an RS2 turbo, RS2 exhaust cam, RS2 injectors, southbend clutch and Wagner EM, which will join the Wagner IM/IC, RS2 airbox etc that's already fitted.

Good tip with the sensor, cheers for that! I'll let you know how i get on smile
Great spec!

Let me know how you get on.

Oh and found the graph for the last run the S2 did:

I forgot to bring the power run in for the Chim (4.0) but it made pricisely 10bhp less than Garlicks and made about 260 lb-ft of torque. Not too shabby!

They are quite sturdy. Although you can bend the arm to sit on the dash, depending on the rake of the screen.

The figures I've got from the Camaro and Roadster seem to tally pretty good with claimed and published stats, so I think it's accurate enough to give a ball park figure.

You do need to configure the phone before use though and have the phone at the right angle.

Have Dynolicious on my old iPhone and it had my Lexus at a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds - which is in the realms of fantasy. So I never bothered since. Is it better with an updated version?

I seem to recall a high powered Escort Vs a Fireblade(??) in one of the magazines many moons ago, the biker said it past him @ 130 odd as if he was braking as hard as he could!!

Thanks.
I've used it before in previous cars, both of which had little cubby holes that held the phone perfectly. I was thinking about velcro on the phones case the centre console but didnt like the idea of sticking things to my car! Think I'll give one of these holders a go.

Do they read that high laugh
Would be keen to see how it reacts actually.
I'll have a look and see what the max G readings are and see whether it's something we can accomplish.. Alternatively, I have a feeling that there are G meters in the MoTeC ADL 3, so I'll see whether we can drag some G logs off that, for interests sake.. When we've actually run it that is!

My 1997 Mk2 MR2. Figure is power at the wheels. Approx 325Hp at the fly if some people use that.

Car is not a Turbo, just pure n/a power smile
