You all know I dislike SUV's with every fibre of my being and would never buy one, ever. But what surprises me is how the original L320 Range Rover Sport had such an awful imagine (regardless of how good or bad it was), yet this current model seems to have left all of that behind.
Interesting observation. I think with the previous-gen RRS and FFRR, the RRS was the "bling" choice and the "FFRR" the more restrained, "classy" choice in most cases but perhaps those roles have switched with the latest versions? Perhaps it's something to do with the addition of the extra seats but the Discovery 4 would probably still be the "classier" and more practical choice. Having said that, Discovery 5 looks horrid, so I would totally have an RRS in the above spec (or dark blue) if I was in the market for a 7-seat luxury SUV. smile

In a world where many people are trying to be as flashy as possible, I think there is something refreshingly old school (and consequently classy) about a Mercedes S65 AMG Cabriolet. It's one of the finest and most luxurious cars currently produced, costs the best part of £200k, offers monumental performance and yet still won't turn an excessive number of heads or rub many people up the wrong way. To me that's what a classy car is all about, having the very best but still just about blending in with the crowd - only standing out to those who will actually appreciate it. Not bad for the 21st Century!

Just because something is boring does not make it classy! Classy is about being the 'connoisseurs' choice, not the boring as hell choice.

That's why Range Rovers (as in full size) are so confusing in this thread - because they are the connoisseurs choice, but they are also the poser's choice. So they fit into both categories of being very classy and also totally trashy. Which way it goes depends largely on spec and the person behind the wheel.

Non bling model.
It is rare to see an e class without the traditional mb grill, but rather the sporty amg grill.
I prefer the traditiobal grill

I think a large amount was down to the fact that the original RRS was firstly just a Disco with a different wrapping but more money and it's launch was a massive disappointment after all the Range Stormer hype. It was an ungainly car that did always come across as being cheap. Conversely, the new one is based on the actual Range Rover so you are getting some engineering that justifies the price, it looks far more resolved and with models like the SVR it's a genuine alternative to its big brother. They've definitely got it right this time.

The Disco 5 is going to take time. I liked the boxy utilitarianism of the 4 but the 5 does have as much space if not more and is half a ton lighter. It seems to be a much better car but I think the pictures look like it is a bit unbalanced and it's very car like and very non utility.

All a matter of opinion, but to me the black one looks much classier.

It's a subjective matter. We can all agree or disagree on which cars we think might or might not be "classy". Your classless response indicates you probably aren't a classy person though, so to me at least your opinion is utterly worthless.

If anything, someone like you claiming with such expletive ferocity that these cars aren't classy, probably makes them more likely to be seen as classy by those who probably are, to most, actually classy.

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned. I present the AM GT8.
Surely this conjures up thoughts of the debonair, sophisticated gent who wants to slide behind the wheel of a limited edition car where the heritage speaks for itself. The racing pedigree crossed with sleek curvy design is surely the classiest around.
Hopefully you're joking but I think the standard V8V has an inherent rightness to it which looks as good today as when it came out in 2005 and being the "cheap" Aston, it won't interest the footballers/rappers etc.

Good point but you prob wouldnt i know as i just made that choice and they look awfully similar but with the rrs you are buying a 2013 chassis and old tech vs brand new in d5 plus more space and fsr more useable rear seats

Why don't you enlighten us all with your ideas about which new cars you consider to be "classy", or at least those which have the most "class"?

Part of the problem is, that modern cars have too much plastic on show. Nothing plasticky can be deemed classy.

There aren't many classy cars on sale, most are far too blingy. Probably the fundamental design is sound, but the UK market in particular wants bling on the outside and needless flim flam like programmable, wifi enabled, lambswool bk strokers or whatever ste they but in expensive cars now.

Class and style isn't about big shiny wheels, lots of buttons, a massive engine, or a big watch and diamond encrusted cuff links, its about discrete style and quite confidence.

Most of the cars in this thread are like the loud mouth excecs that give it the big 'un, buying everyone expensive wine when they're out with their mates, but the reality is, they marriage is in tatters, the up to their eyes in debt and it's all a big front.
