Most Caddys seem to have alloys on now and sporty bumpers, so that would certainly be a surprise.
TBF, any van with 1300bhp would be a massive surprise. And yes, RE the alloys. There is one 5 minutes walk away from us, pass on daily dog walks, has Bentley wheels on it.
It is for sale, he is looking for around £8k which does not seem a lot for the work involved.
You’re a bit off with the price…

Especially as it's not road legal! One would have thought that such a thing would sail through the technical part of an IVA, given that it's made out of factory issue bits and won't have the sharp edges and sticky out bits of the revival hot-rods that are the usual fodder for the process. One is then forced to question why the van hasn't been presented for the test.*

  • There will be bureaucratic difficulties with this one, given that it won't be able to retain the van's identity and doesn't appear to have enough bits from an alternative mechanical donor to use that as a basis. It will need to be re-registered as a completely new vehicle, and possibly not a VW. Complicated? Yes. Likely to be 'Q' plated? Maybe...

I'm amazed/impressed/suspicious a DSG gearbox can cope with that sort of bhp.
I suspect gearboxes would have to treated as a consumable item smile

Yeah I'd go with that. Old enough and interesting enough that I'd assume the mods were just style based, wouldn't think it had 270bhp.

Love what you have done with this! I would see that and think it was pretty rapid though.

I know what you mean that’s why I put “a bit of” a sleeper. No where near as stealthy as some of the entries in this thread especially the caddy van on the previous page.

Great fun though and makes fantastic turbo noises, sounds like Darth Vader on boost, I absolutely adore it.

Sometimes though, sleepers just scream "Sleeper" and so disqualify themselves. The Caddy and the early Golf do just that.

The fact the Golf is even still on the road excludes it from Sleeper status.

No one is thinking standard when they see it.

Agreed that they don't. Even if someone spots the big brakes on the Caddy, no-one is expecting 1100+ bhp. The Golf would fool most and even a sleeper-spotter wouldn't be sure if it's going to have 250+ hp/ton.

The golf is a 5 door though.

You aren’t going to look at it and think ‘yeah that’s going to give a golf r a run for it’s money’.

Yeah, if I came across that my spidey senses would be tingling.

Very nice though.
