I'm having a bit of difficulty with my new car purchase. I signed paperwork on 29 March to get dealer deposit contribution and was told it would be delivered within ten days. It was meant to be ready last weekend and wasn't, is now day fifteen and was told it was arriving today and meant to be picking up the car on Sunday but now been told it won't arrive till Monday so I can't pick it up until next weekend (As I work Monday to Friday). I also didn't realize I was paying my PCP from 29 March not from the day I pick up the car. Salesman is speaking to manager about compensation. What's the best I can expect? What should I push for? I want to be refunded pro rata for the number of days between 29 March and the day I finally pick up my car.
I think you should ask for them to pay your first payment, that's a fair deal overall. no one loses out then.
Cars should not be able to be registered until they are at the dealer.

Agreement is live, yes. The finance company is Fiat themselves (well their finance arm) which makes it even more annoying! I am waiting on the proposal from the sales manager (who is a remarkably difficult man to pin down).
Annoyingly I am in Glasgow and the dealer is in Newcastle and I am in Newcastle this weekend anyway ... so now I'm going to have to make a second trip (plus work out how I'm getting home from Newcastle at short notice). I think a loan car for the week and a contribution to my first payment is fair.
sales managers are always difficult to pin down when its something they don't want to deal with. if you are going in there simply ask to speak to him and say you are not leaving until you do and its sorted.

Amusingly I will be there Sunday anyway as my brother is picking up his 124 Spider which has arrived! So opportunity to force them to sort it out.if you are going in there simply ask to speak to him and say you are not leaving until you do and its sorted.

Probably explains why when I went into my local Ford dealership to do a bit of "mystery shopping", I was completely ignored when looking at the Mustang; not even any form of acknowledgement, TBF even when I've been in there looking at at a Focus I've been blanked too.
How's Vignale doing; be honest?!
Vignale unsurprisingly doesn’t do big numbers, been there almost a year, done 2 Mondeo Vignale and 1 Kuga Vignale in that time. How's Vignale doing; be honest?!

Any murmurings on how it is doing, nationally, is it doing as expected, is it so far a flop and the wrong decision to launch, are Ford sticking with it?

Morning all,
Got a question regarding early settlement. How is the 50% of the total amount payable calculated? For instance if the on road price is £30 000 but there is also a £3000 contribution. Is the 50% still £30k or £27k?
It is 50% of the total amount payable so includes interest, it isn't 50% of the value of the car.Got a question regarding early settlement. How is the 50% of the total amount payable calculated? The figure will be in your finance paperwork.
Thanks for your reply. We haven’t signed any paperwork yet. We are waiting for delivery of the vehicle and just want to estimate the cost of settlement if I wish to walk away from the PCP agreement. Just getting confused with whether is just the amount borrowed (on the road price minus deposit/contributions) but as you mentioned should include the interest as well.

Couple other things to note if you are looking at vt'ing the car in the future. Keep it in really good condition finance companies are really starting to try and charge for miniscule damage, and also they will possibly charge for collection it from you or you can drop it off at a designated site ( usually out of the way from where you are )

Perfect. Thanks.Thats what got me confused as my understanding of amount payable is the list price of the vehicle. So if the amount financed is £15 000 then the 50% I need to reach is 50% of £15 000 + interest accrued?
We made the order and happy with the payment plan just wanted to get an idea of what it will cost to terminate earlier in case of unforeseen circumstances. Order has been placed and deposit paid. Delivery is expected on 2nd week of June. We got a quote for a high deposit (+£12000) but maybe we are better off doing a smaller deposit and higher monthly payment but I assume this could be adjusted closer to delivery date.

Thanks for that. Will keep that in mind but hopefully if nothing unexpected takes place we will keep the car.Keep it in really good condition finance companies are really starting to try and charge for miniscule damage, and also they will possibly charge for collection it from you or you can drop it off at a designated site ( usually out of the way from where you are )
Would like some views on providing a Driving license for test drives please.
We don't always ask to see proof of them but we do if its a customer who is new to us or possible not from our area.
had a few examples last week of what we felt were * test drive pilots killing time * we asked for their license to keep on file to say they have been on test drive with us, few of them said they didn't have their license and a few just refused to show them so we declined any test drive on that basis.
Anyone got views on if you ask for them or as a customer would you be offended if you were asked to provide your driving license for a test drive ?

I’ve always been asked unless they have it on file. I would not be insulted in the slightest and a bit of due diligence shouldn’t offend anyone. Who goes to test drive a car without taking their licence? Strange. We don't always ask to see proof of them but we do if its a customer who is new to us or possible not from our area.

How strange, why would someone think it odd that they have been asked to produce their drivers licence when wanting to take a test drive.
We always ask to see it and will take a copy; if you are driving our car then we want to have proof that you have a licence to drive, I can't see the issue myself, I would expect to be asked if it was me taking a test drive, because the paper part is non invalid, some dealers insist on the DVLA website check; we don't though.
I have never had someone refuse or even question me, when asked to show their licence, if were to get a refusal then there would be no test drive, end of and also I'd see it as dodging a bullet as they are clearly arses!
