I got the plates done and treated it to a detail. Not happy with the Merc garage, they just drilled through the old plates instead of checking where the holes are, so these are crooked and held in with wood screws which I wouldn't usually care about if not for the fact that I took it to a Merc dealer, would've at least expected it to be done properly.
pretty much my experience with Merc Dealers (albiet in the liverpool / manchester area) every time i went - you should see the crap paint job they did on my wings..............PrinceRupert said:
So I just went at the damaged Rover with this...
Great result. A bit of touch up paint and you are sorted. This really is one of the benefits of running at this end of the market! No faffing around with insurance companies, excesses, increased premiums, booking in for repairs, courtesy cars etc. Just an hour polishing and touching up and move on with your life! If it's someone elses fault march them to a cash point for £300 and put it in the pot for the next one. Love it.
For an unknown reason my V70 was "keyed" on Saturday from front nearside door to rear wing.....It's 21 years old, this would have sent me into a rage even a few months before finding this thread. I still love my Ovlov, so how to try and buff it out?
what do you suggest I buy to try and clean it up? a rottary thingy on a drill? and what to get?....my wife uses it as her daily, and likes it, so going to be around a while yet (we want to get it to 300k on original clutch currently on 246k miles)

May have come across potential new-to-me shed. Skoda Fabia, 1.2 diesel 3cyl, 2012, 150k miles, some independant service history, 2 owners.
Chap at work "yeah, me car looks like its dead, needs new exhaust, clutch on its way out, discs, pads, three new tyres and the tracking. MOT in Sept which it wont pass". Been quoted £800 for the work. Sounds like it shouldnt be on the road now TBH. Anyway, he's on about chopping it in for £500 against a new VW van.
Got 1st refusal. Said I'd give him £600 and take the problem off his hands and have a few weeks of MOT to get it sorted.
Got cruise control and 65mpg. Happy days?

Definitely, 2012 is basically brand new in shed land. I would imagine Brakes, Tyres and an Exhaust are pretty cheap for these? Road tax £30 a year?Chap at work "yeah, me car looks like its dead, needs new exhaust, clutch on its way out, discs, pads, three new tyres and the tracking. MOT in Sept which it wont pass". I personally would rip his hand off for £600.

Yeah, might even extend to £750. Known the chap for a while, sure he drives Ms Daisy for a part-time job and its probably full of sand, he's a surfer. Dont think its even £30, a year. If it costs me £1500 all in with a 12 month ticket, no advisories, I can sell my Audi shed which I was recently offered £2400(!) for and pocket a grand. And get an extra 10-15mpgs.I personally would rip his hand off for £600.
Does anyone know if you can get hold of completed auction prices for cars? I know you can check on eBay but wanting to compare against copart, manheim and bca. I guess there are fewer bidders but they probably know the values better. Just wondering whether it’s worth looking into for shedding.

Can you register as a bidder - this will allow you to see the sold prices (sometimes / usually / maybe)Edited by oOJamesOo on Tuesday 7th July 21:46

Exactly what we run as shed 2 albeit auto. And I got mine 3yrs ago with 45k on it and paid 400 quid, bargain of a lifetime. We've done 35k or 40k miles in it since, it's had an oil change and some tyres... That's it. Cheap cockroach shed if anyone fancies being stuck with a reliable car for years and years
Also burned about 4 gallons of cheap oil as it likes a drink.
Proper shed motoring, reliable as hell

Tried and saved the cars into a watch list but when they’re sold they just disappear. So unless I go into each auction and watch the bids I won’t know. But that’s way too tome consuming to get a big enough pool of data. 200Plus Club said:

I buy the local motor factors semi synth at 15 quid a gallon and leave it in the boot ready :-)
I have sinned, I am swapping my shed for a new lease Renault Megane R.S....
If anyone’s interested in my Shed don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s a 2005 330i with £10,500 of extras. Comes with loads of paperwork and it’s original sales invoice from Barons Hindhead BMW for £38,000 in 2005!
