That's a mega-barge! I always think that I would prefer to buy mechanically strong car that's a little tatty - they all need a tidy up to some extent so if you are in for a penny, you are in for a pound. If it drives like a new car as you say, then you can take your time on the cosmetic side of things. You can't do that if there are issues with the way it drives!What's the 'thing' to the left of the stereo on the passenger side of things?

They should; I've had mine since 2006, bought for 5k. I've done 30,000 wonderful miles since and still recommend them to anyone who cares to listen. Edited to add that I've a real hankering for some BBS RS wheels with gold centres for mine..

I've had mine for four years, and having researched the model prior to buying it, I decided the 300-24 was the one for me. It's more sonorous and free revving than the later 6 cylinder engines, and I think the earlier cars are better made and are nicer looking (all very subjective though).
My ideal car ( very early production model in silver with blue leather) came up. It has a 5-speed autobox and heated seats as a bonus and runs perfectly, despite its 137000 miles. Highly recommended.
This is a first series M104 engine, which is essentially an M103 with a 24 valve head. They don't have the wiring loom issues if later cars, but do need revving to get the best out of them; typical 80's multi-valve unit really.
