Same model, X350.
This diesel does feel quite floaty, totally in keeping with its character but miles away from something like the 530i or M5 I had (both of which rode superbly). Not that it's the car for it, but not sure how much confidence I'd have attempting to corner at any pace in it.
I have a 3.0 petrol in full 'old man' Sovereign spec, and it goes perfectly well for what it is, it's actually pretty nimble for such a large car. Sure, it's no XJR, but it doesn't have the running costs of one either. I bought it from the first owner, it has a mega history (he even went to the main Jag dealer for tyres!) and over £7k of options on it. Even though I've had it for four years now, I've no plans to sell it as it's just such a lovely thing to waft about in. Get a good one and you're laughing IMO. After taking a look, the term eye watering could be used. 191g/km-225g/km 1200 euro's, 225g/km+ 2350 euro's. It's that kind of taxation that I look on the £515 I pay on my recently acquired XK - "could be worse, I could live in Ireland". How bad is Irish road tax for barges then?

I'm given to understand it's higher in some mainland European countries. Heh, after taking a quick look at the other rates, the 159Ti (1.9jtdm) that I had would have been costing me nearly a much in Ireland as the XK does in this country.

Gearboxes generally sturdy at higher miles?alpha channel said:

Has this just ripped the arse out of the used car market then? I presume barges like the ones on this thread must be near worthless because of this?I'm given to understand it's higher in some mainland European countries. Six cylinder manual 190 with only 80k miles. If only it wasn't white with a blue interior http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C830404

I follow this thread and find it great therapy. Made the mistake of going to the NPE thread the other day and had tomread this one to bring back a sense of calm and order
I will be moving to Ireland in a couple of weeks so look at car adverts there.
Doubt I will be able to afford to run a barge over there as the road tax is punitive
Anyway I laughed when I read this. https://www.donedeal.co.uk/vintagecars-for-sale/to...
Hello to Derin. I bought your wife's white 325 touring. G325XXX. Never let me down
My own rule for using Piston Heads is never, ever visit NP&E. It's horrible. I will be moving to Ireland in a couple of weeks so look at car adverts there.

I don't much like Mercedes cloth in any colour - blue velour to me would be much better. Strangely - and I suppose fashion is absorbed by osmosis - I am starting to like certain cars in white. The number of cars which look good to me in white is fairly limited, but it definitely includes the 190 - and other Mercedes such as the 124 and 126. I have always liked the 116 in white.ReaperCushions said:

It is truly terrible, except for diesels, but even then it's not good. Vintage (30 years) road tax is €56.Insurance is steep &' prices for new cars are probably 50% higher.
The roads are great though. Smooth and free of major traffic. Well in the west of Ireland which is where I am going
Meanwhile, for people who don't get stiff for old taxis:

£1,295, 88k miles, carpet stripes. Could be the last car you ever need to buy.
