Any vauxhall sales people on here? OH is after a Corsa 1.2 Limited Edition in Chili Orange, new or per reg. Our local dealer has a couple but is having a giggle with the figures quoted.

Any MINI men/women?

OH has a Kite Blue/black wheels Roadster John Cooper Works, 3500ml May '13 reg, with lots of options inc the important Chili and Media Packs

Question is, when is a better time to sell? We're getting married next Sept, so the finance money would be useful, but would selling at 6 months, or 12 months make more sense?

Also, will selling in the Spring affect the value as it's obv a convertible?

Cheers

Go armed with what car, they give a target price, this is currently around 2k off list, this should be your absolute minimum discount.

Presumably though whilst not every dealer will be able to do a deal at the 'target price' unless it's simply plucked from thin air with no research at all you'd imagine the 'target price' is the product of some research, indicating that somebody, somewhere, might offer it?

What Car Magazine said:
Things to remember
Target Price is the most you should spend
In lots of cases you should be able to get an even better deal. One popular tactic is to agree the Target Price for the car and then persuade the salesman to throw in a few small extras, such as floormats.
nono

When you agree a deal, then that should be it. Not agree then ask for more rolleyes

Is that not suggesting 'Ok, the price sounds ok but I will need XYZ to do the deal' rather than 'Great, we've shaken on the deal. Oh, can I have XYZ?' though?

To me that reads agree the deal, and then ask for more after you've agreed it?

I could be wrong though, it's happened before laugh

Is it common practice for a salesman to poach customers when they move jobs?

Following on from this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... i had a call from "Eric" asking if we got our new car!?

Conversation went something along the lines of

Did everything go ok with the new car?

No actually you messed it up!

Sorry to hear that did you get something else?

Yes somebody at BMW sorted your mess and we got the right car!

Ok Bye.

So was he a nice guy following up sales even though he left the company or did he know he messed up and was looking for a sale in his new job?

Either way i let the people at the dealership know as this guy has obviously left with a notepad full of names and telephone numbers that im sure is breaking some sort of rule?

Yes when someone leaves the old diary gets shared out or passed onto the replacement. Then you have to follow people up and try and close old stuff etc.

Prospecting is one of the least fun aspects of the job (IMO) never mind with people who have no idea who you are.

Yeah i understand passing the leads onto the new guy or sharing them out with existing staff but this is the guy who messed up the order who then left/got sacked and is now i assume working somewhere else!

Ahhhh right, that's a bit weird.

I know of a few people who have had customers follow them to different brands because they like that particular salesperson. It's not common.
