What ever happened to brightly coloured cars?

It is quite depressing, but people are sheep
Or maybe they just don't want brightly coloured cars. I've always prefered cars in sliver, grey or dark metallics. My current two are in dark blue metallic. Four of the previous five were in variations of silver or grey.
It doesn't make me a sheep. I just much prefer non-shouty colours.
My OH is the same - she finds a lot of Fiat 500 colours challenging. My mission was to find her one in dark blue or grey.
It's interesting that babies go for brightly coloured things (nature?), whereas adults, in some places, go for black or silver (nurture, peer pressure, simply taste, or something else?).
You can choose whichever colour you like, or are told to like. I don't always steer away from black or silver, by the way.
To help keep the kids amused on journeys we’ve instilled the game ‘yellow car bang’ (formerly known as yellow car punch I believe but we’re trying to discourage them from knocking six bells out of one another quite so often...)
Whoever sees any yellow car first shouts said game name and we continue on our merry way, sometimes even keeping a tally. My daughter is a demon at it, it’s surprising just how many yellow cars they spot out on the road.

I've only ever bought used cars and find the sea of white, silver, grey and black ones just miserable!
They remind me of when the world looked black and white as my parents only had a used B & W TV.
Back in 2014 I found an Imola Red E46 Compact and in 2016 I got a Montego Blue Z4 Coupe - lovely!
But I've changed them both now and ended up with a Sparkling Graphite 3 Series - very hard to find in a car park - and a Silver Grey Z4 Coupe that is slightly easier because of the shape! But I would have loved to find proper colours. (The blue Z4 is only in shot because I hadn't sold it).

I've got a 2015/64 Aygo in bright orange- as my username suggests Toyota calls this "orange twist".
Everyone else at my sixth form has black/white/navy Fiestas and the like so it's a popular car
I think small cars that are "louder" colours are seeing a resurgence whereas bigger cars are slowly moving towards greyscale.

So once again someone posting cars that aren't brightly coloured. Why exactly? They remind me of when the world looked black and white as my parents only had a used B & W TV.

I had never heard of this until I got a yellow car about 12 years ago . I felt a little evil as I thought about the many many hours being driven around the UK & France as a kid with my little brothers so many missed opportunities to punch them with a "semi legitimate" reason Whoever sees any yellow car first shouts said game name and we continue on our merry way, sometimes even keeping a tally. My daughter is a demon at it, it’s surprising just how many yellow cars they spot out on the road.
We now have a couple of yellow cars .
