A fking truck did this this morning. I was in the lane he was trying to get into but we were nose to tail (not literally, no one was driving like a ) but there was no space for a smart car let alone a truck. Yet the tosser pulls out and blocks the other way which was a 50 mph road with the T junction over a crest, so realising the danger we all stopped to let the tosser out.
I wonder how long he was sat there waiting for someone to let him pull out into your lane? scratchchin

One of the bosses at work has decided tattoos on show are now a no go (uniform regs state they should be minimal and inoffensive if visible). To me this seems like a good move for smattering our corporate image, but it's bad news for all the people who will now be wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets all year long.

Ugh boots on men.
Fecking loud dump valves AKA Cock valves, Chav valves.

Does it make you go faster? No.
Will you look like a cock? Yes.

I've just bought a car with one on and everytime I change gear I cringe and sink down into my seat, it will soon be hitting Ebay when I get an OE one...

I hate the whole no tattoos at work thing as long as your not going out of your way to show them, ie wearing a vest thats fine. If you have a full sleeve then you should be allowed to wear short sleeve shirts in summer as long as your tattoos arent offensive

Unfair dismissal at it's worst. You wouldn't sack someone for dying their hair would you? rolleyes

So a full face tattoo is ok at work as long as it doesn't have offensive content? I would suggest it depends where you work

In fairness you don't tend to see people with big facial tattoos in jobs, I can think of a couple locally who have spiders and the like and they don't work and never have.
My other half has a very well paid job for the council, he's also got tattoos on both arms, they dont discriminate. I've worked on and off in a school for the last year or two, I have several hidden tattoos and a very visible elvish (no, not Elvis!) tattoo on my wrist, a nose stud and a lip ring. My lip ring I do remove but the school have always been fine with staff tattoos and piercings (though in reality the students are probably more pierced and tattooed than I am!)

I think faces are a boundary not quite yet broken with tatts

What does it matter whether it is face or arms? It's still a tattoo. Only a limited amount, or even zero personal expression should be permissable in the workplace. It's just a wholly unnecessary distraction. There is a danish guy at my office who has many tattoos and he always covers them up and it never causes an issue. He clearly does that for a reason

I've seen it happen. A previous place of work had very strict guidelines on what was, and was not acceptable, in terms of personal appearance. You were given a handbook explaining it all before you started. Break the rules, get bagged.
If it's laid out in such a way it could simply be a case of a breach of contract or considered gross misconduct; but as soon as someone takes that company to tribunal over it and have a legitimate reason for the tattoo (posthumous or religious for example) the company policy would have to change.

I never judge anyone by their appearance. People who demonstrate pre-judgmental bias towards people with tattoos (I have none by the way) are as bad as people who are racist, sexist, homophobic or discriminate anyone for any reason.

If I were starting at a new job and I was handed such a document I would suggest somewhere to shove it.

I don't think it does, for some reason though many people do take issues with facial tatts. I don't personally, I love Kat Von Dee's stars on the side of her face for example, but whilst employers are coming around to tatts on the body a lot of them do see facial tattoos in a different light. Maybe in another ten years it will be more acceptable in general society.

Personally if it were me employing someone I'd judge them on their skills rather than their appearance.

I know this is a terrible stereotype, but if I see a guy with obvious facial tattoos coming down the street towards me, it's one of the few times I consider crossing the road.
