I don't know if its fast by todays standards buts it certainly doesn't look fast on rusty steel wheels. Its a de-badged E500.

Bet it's great for fast wafting in comfort though on our terrible roads. A nice daily I would say, just needs the wheels tidying. I like that.

As we bid a flamboyant 'arrivederci' to Bormio and heartily greet Chatel with a 'bonjour', the car, now resembling a mobile ski lodge crammed with six pairs of skis, embarked on its odyssey. We breezed through Milan, the car's winter tyres squirming uncomfortably under the 24-degree heat, a far cry from the icy conditions they're accustomed to. Our journey then took us to the majestic Aosta, and through the Saint Bernardino tunnel where, to our relief, customs officers spared us the inquisition they seemed to reserve for Swiss and Italian vehicles. With a respectful nod to speed limits – more by necessity than choice – we snaked our way through Switzerland. And now, here we are in Chatel, our alpine adventure poised to continue…..

Instead of packing the car so well, you could (like many) have a half empty boot and a hideous enormous roof box that makes a lot of noise and zaps performance and economy biglaugh

It’s bizarre how many people do this! Although I’ll probably be replacing the E43 with a SQ7. (As I want more space)

Maybe this doesn't belong here but I wanted to share my new to me 330d Alan Partridge spec (beige leather and beige carpets). I've always wanted an Alpina and this is the best I can do for now. Like an Alpina ordered off Wish.

Anyway, I came from a Panda 100HP to this and it's been unreal. I did a trip from Lancashire up to the Outer Hebrides over new year and she averages 46mpg. Way more power than I'll ever need and in sport plus the tail wiggles. Not bad for a comfy SE spec with clear glass.

Probably not fast to most folk but it shifts very well IMO and probably even better when I get it remapped and get the XHP tune on the ZF8 biggrin

My F31 325D M Sport in 'winter' mode after a quick 'contactless' wash yesterday to rid the built up road grime...

Very nice; I do like an F31 biggrin

That'll be us this time next month; heading up from Lancashire to the Highlands for a week; hopefully 2 if the wife can get some of her meetings rescheduled!

No noise at 100mph plus (in Mexico) with the correct aero bars and box on. I’d only ever buy Thule Wingbars. Zero noise and well worth the money.

Enjoy! Watch out for those average speed cameras, but the back roads are amazing driving roads. I'll be back in my campervan soon.

Haha yeah; well versed in the A9 - folks have had their property in Dunkeld since 2012 now. So seen the A9 go from bad to worse to slightly better to going worse again biggrin

TBH once we're off the roundabout at Perth, you're there now with the widened section and able to get passed lorries/caravans/bimblers laugh

Ahh we stopped off at Dunkeld on the way back. Beautiful place, though being 2nd Jan it was their bank holiday so everything was shut!

I have Thule wingbars and a Hapro roofbox and they do make some noise. But in a well insulated car it's not very noticeable, until the sunroof is opened!

Having a large dog, the boot is for the pet and a big suitcase; roofbox for everything else.

Some things are just a pain in the arse to load in any way other than into a big ol’ space - like this 2-seater ebike, with both wheels on…

Wasn’t sure it would go through the opening but didn’t even touch the sides (said the Bishop… biggrin)
