Yep, real shame. No abs ..
No doubt, some improvements will be incorporated in the rebuild!
No doubt you're giving birth to the new colour scheme right now; another 9 months of agony!
Best regards F.
I don't think lack of ABS is an issue given the weight of the car and suitable brake pumping technique. Bearing in mind that (I presume) braking issues with the car were always in relation to its performance envelope - I doubt he was traveling at 200mph... And I think he was having the brakes upgraded anyway. No doubt, some improvements will be incorporated in the rebuild!

Hope that the latter wasn't a cause and presume you/other people were fine. My heart sank seeing the pictures though - it's weirdly disturbing to see a car that you have conversed with the owner about (even if it's electronically) in such a state. Let's hope the repairs are relatively simple. Best wishes.

I know it’s hard to tell but it looks to only have front bodywork damage. And if my memory serves me right when they did the original crash tests the car was still drivable and the doors could open etc.
It remains the only car to have been drivable after the front impact in to a concrete wall test. I would imagine it is in situ for collision investigators. I hope you walked away pain-free, chap. As others have said, the damage is reminiscent of Rowan's mishap. She will be better than new when the boys in Woking have worked their magic, although I fear your wallet will take a battering. It looks like you may have to slum it in the CGT for a while.

looks a bit like when #061 had a crash.

it doesn't look much worse than Rowan Atkinson's did after his little knock.

Rowans crash was at very low speed, and the damage is comparable to Flemke's Christ it's tragic seeing an F1 in that state, espescially in that gorgeous blue.
I'd be interested to know what Flemke or Marine Boy could offer in information on the SLR though - what was Gordon's design idea? Exactly how much did the German execs fiddle with it, and how far did the car end up from the Mclaren vision? It's a subject I've always wanted to know more about, and other than Gordon mentioning in Evo magazine that Mercedes insisted on a supercharged engine that came in 85KG overweight before 7 heat sinks were added, I don't know what else they did to spoil it. I've heard they used a touring car driver to tune the handling to his feedback, which made the steering awful for the road, but I don't know how much truth there is to that.
Interesting espescially that there is so little info on it, considering it's the world's highest selling supercar in terms of numbers built and sold of one model.

Can well believe the absconding, I think if I'd caused a crash involving a beastie such as a F1 I'd have a bloody heart attack at the reaction of my insurers! Bloody hope they catch the driver though, yes, their insurers are gonna have a fit, but have always felt that it's far better in life to admit to mistakes, regardless of the potential consequences of doing so...
Let's keep this thread on track and free of supposition and hysteria gentlemen, shall we?
I'm sure that we all wish Flemke well in getting his car back to how it was, but we know nothing about what transpired or who was responsible. Flemke is also a very private individual, so let's please resist the temptation to start speculating about whether that's him in the pictures or not.
Cheers

Minor but personal info regarding Flemke. The driver who caused the accident absconded afterwards.
Would hope you'll remove personal info regarding a very valued member of this digital community chap, although thanks for the translation assist.Rich_W said:
No. if you cause an accident. fking off is fairly low down on my list of desirable traits. Makes no odds if it's a £300 Micra or a £2M Veyron.
The article quotes the Autobahnpolizei that the other driver didn't stop but to me it sounds like it's not clear if he noticed that he caused a crash. It also says that he (the other dirver) changed lanes to avoid the tail of a traffic jam.Edited by inb4thekill on Saturday 31st July 19:19
