See the guards - the Florida Racing Beige coloured one is a phase 2 (if I remember correctly). The black on in the magazine ad the first iteration.
yes indeed, the black one is the original version .. I had a white one back in the early 90's .. terrible rust problems I'm afraid. The Beige one is the later wide-bodied version.

I think there was an Eclipse that was both as well? That was a coupe too
Yep, Doug deMuro did a video on one recently. In it he talks about the Chrysler brand versions as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgqHq6WjD8s
Saw a confusing looking VW Polo Mk4 last night, it had roof rails and a raised ride height.
Was trying to make out what the badge on the right said until I caught a glimpse of "Dune". Looked it up just now and it looks like VW tried the supermini crossover fad that we are currently going through (Seat Arona etc.) about 10-15 years before it was to become a thing.

Rover Streetwise was around at the same time, maybe slightly earlier, around 2003-2004.Was trying to make out what the badge on the right said until I caught a glimpse of "Dune". They are both wonderfully terrible looking things. I'd love to be mega rich so I could buy pointless rubbish like this, I'd have a warehouse full of terrible cars.ajprice said:

Polo Cross in Europe. I used to see them abroad and my mother was looking for something in a bright colour so I was disappointed to find they never marketed them in the UK. They also had a Polo Fun (oxymoronic I know)Was trying to make out what the badge on the right said until I caught a glimpse of "Dune". 10 internet points if you know what this is....
A Mitsubishi Starion unless I'm much mistaken. Story went that it should have been called a Stallion, like the Mustang but Japanese, except there was a pronunciation problem................
Yes, one of the more popular car-world myths. A Mitsubishi Starion unless I'm much mistaken. Story went that it should have been called a Stallion, like the Mustang but Japanese, except there was a pronunciation problem................
Orion and Star were the basis for the naming, it was nothing to do with horses.
