$7000 AUD for a 2000 Pug!
That's about £3200 (or $3 USD!)

You can pick them up for around £1000 in the UK.

If you want your Mini with leather and air-con this is surely the way to go. Beanie and Aussie accent optional.
Are original Minis now being bought up by the "cool" beanie hat set then?

Rariry interest, but auto. And not sure why you'd buy that when you can have your choice of Legends for less.

The new motor of popular youtube channel Mightycarmods is a Jap Mini.

That Honda Saber is not the most appealing looking thing ever, but always good to see something dofferent.

Advert withdrawn, sold or otherwise.

How good does that small front Australian plate look on the Pug 406 Coupe.

General cost of living, innit! Aus is an expensive place to live. Cars don't have the same depreciation curve as in the UK, its not uncommon for an 8-10 year old car to still sell for 25-35% of its list price - my Volvo was 28% at 7 years old and the Forester would be about 30% at 8 years old. Coupled with European being shorthand for "prestige", even Peugeot, means that cars are more expensive. The climate means they're likely to be rust-free at this age, and the 'prestige' bit means they'll probably have been looked after too. Whilst the ad doesn't mention it, I would bet on it having a full service history with either main dealer or specialist, and that its on its second or third owner. Would you get that for a grand in the UK?

Anyway, that's probably a debate for outside this thread, so here's an 2004 5.7 V8 ute for the same money...

And in case the thought of having a Holden upsets anyone, here's a Ford with 5.4 V8...

And wages. Everyone I know in Aus is doing very well on that front. a nice 406 coupe is still a great looking car and without the image problem and a bit more rarity makes it much more appealing.

I love a ute. Not over here though, they're a contextual want.

Yeah I like the V8 Fords and Holden's.
Used to live in Oz so know all about the type of nice cars there. They even did a 4.1 straight six Cortina! Max we got was a 2.3 V6. Rubbish.

Saying about the price. I live is Asia and even a 97 Camry is $9k USD. Totally rediculous even by Aus standards.

I think the 2.3 V6 Cologne and the 4.1 I6 produced about the same power, or not so much of a difference as the 1800cc capacity difference might suggest - 120/130'ish bhp from both.

Fair to say its only really the UK that has such ridiculously low 2nd hand car prices.

Even just over the water in Ireland or Netherlands, its a totally different story.
Agree with this. You drive around eastern Europe and it's full of UK registered cars driven by locals. Surprised we have any cars left in Britain.

I actually went to view the 2102 this afternoon. Made an offer lower than the (very nice) guy was willing to take.

I'm still tempted, but it is very crusty looking 2 years aftre a re-spray. Worries me that after another winter of use it will look really bad.

It's a solid enough car though and goes and stops as well as a 70's Lada could be expected hehe

Like I say, just worried about the quality of the prep/paint it had.
Do you mind disclosing some more info about your offer and condition etc. Might save me some time. (Pm if you want)

Cheers,

Only just noticed. Are the rear light clusters on the Excel the same rear lights fitted to the S2 Esprit, albeit upside-down?
