Apparently the official line is to do a Europe wide launch.

The unofficial line is Toyota messed up the order and the car has arrived with 3 wrong items that should be standard in Europe. One of these is rumoured to be no GPF which is required to be legal.
If they were trying to pedal that as an official line then they need a new PR department. That's the worst excuse I've ever heard.

The real reason (if it is a few missing EU options) is hardly egregious though. Just tell the customers. In any case I know they won't but they might tell the prominent journos if they actually asked and pressed the question.

The Yaris was the same after a few months they ran out of black wheel bolts so cars were held at Toyota UK. Radio silence from head office to dealers. Eventually someone who worked at derby spilt the beans.

I feel sorry for dealers as it’s head office where all the comms issues arise.

Just got the call regarding my car. I will receive it some time in 2023, so that's nice and specific.

Possibly before all those who already have cars built and waiting at Derby, which Toyota can’t / won’t deliver.

It's Europe wide. My car will be at the dealership for at least 3 (minimum) months before I get it. Same all across Europe. I've actually passed the frustration point but if I still don't have it by the time the first snow arrives that will be the straw!

Anyone heard anything else from Toyota? Any cars being delivered in the UK/EU? Any demonstrators at dealers yet?

Toyota GB sat on all delivered cars, tight lipped, non committal about when. Lots of rumours re sealant, fire, missing bits, gpf, speed limiters -nobody knows or is telling.

Mines in the original batch that landed in the UK in May, I was told 2 weeks for delivery so sold my car.

Now driving a new loan Toyota whilst this whole debacle gets resolved.

All the customer cars that arrived in the UK in May/June are parked up in Derbyshire awaiting Toyota GB to fix/change something relating to the "specific environment and usage in Europe", whatever that means. Unfortunately Toyota GB don't value their customers sufficiently to be honest as to exactly what is being changed. They also refuse to say exactly when cars will be delivered but have said they hope to have an update in late September. The "GR Centres" haven't a clue what is going on either.

I was going to, but given they've given me a brand new, top of the range C-HR to drive round it until its sorted i'm quite willing to sit it out for as long as it takes.

What will you get instead?

Civic Type-R would be the only other I'd consider I think, or maybe another Cayman.

I live in Japan and see so many of these on the roads every day. I have to say they look absolutely stunning, plenty have already been modified as well.

Weirdly walking past Toyota dealers there always seems to be 1 or 2 sitting for sale in the showroom as stock. Which probably won't be a relief to those in Europe waiting for there's...

I can see these being imported to the UK quite a bit, we do have a decent imports scene over here. Beggars belief that they're only allocating 400, especially when you can see the demand on here.

I'm on the verge of cancelling all the rumours about why the deliveries are delayed & the utterly appalling communication from Toyota have ruined the experience for me.
We all rather ordered the cars in haste with none of the usual pre purchase ground work, when the orders were placed we were told 12-13 weeks for delivery the Comms I've had from Toyota suggest delivery sometime first half of next year so more like 13 months+ so lots more time to think, started looking at alternatives.....

Mine has been sitting in the dealership for 2 months. One of the guys in our CH group got an email from his dealership (largest chain in the country) that the delay is due to the stability control staying off on restart once you disable it.

I really hope this is the case but who knows. I've to go by my dealership this week at some point so I shall call in.

I read some other rumours last week where Toyota Belgium had told someone that it was related to VSC controls not being good enough so that might actually line up?!

Such a horrendous buying experience, all down to zero communication from Toyota which could be so easily resolved.
